Hi Wanda, I am very interested in what you may have on the Arbuckle family.
Gust SKORDAS' Early Settlers of MD says Archebald ARBUCKLE was transported for service by 1658; Archibald's wf. Dyna was transported by 1659 [Q:72 & 4:68].
Abstracts of Land Records of Anne Arundel Co.: Thomas JACKS, AA, cordwainer, with dower released by Elizabeth JACKS, deeded 13 Nov. 1717, recorded 21 Mar. 1717, for 28 pounds sterling, all the tract on the south side of South River, a neck surveyed for Archibald ARBUCKLE, & adjoining ARBUCKLES's land called Elk Thicket, afterwards in the possession of Benja. WILLIAMS & conveyed by him to JACKS, running a line up the river to Buridge Creek, by land surveyed for George NETTLEFORD, and by land, surveyed for ARBUCKLE, in the possession of Jno. & Jas. POWELL. Also another tract, Williams Addition, on the south side of South River by Huggins Cove.
John TURNER with dower released by Sarah TURNER deeded 19 Sep. 1718, recorded 27 Sep. 1718, for four steers, 100 acres of Fold land on the east side of South River next to land of Archibald ARBUCKLE, east northeast to Nettleford Creek.
There are detailed maps by George HORVATH that might help you locate the land. I can't find a land record of 1652 for ARBUCKLE.
This is the family of whom I believe I descend. I'm having trouble finding any connections that are definite between this time period and about 1750/55 when my 4th great grandfather Joseph Arbuckle was born. I would appreciate any help here and can provide more records past that time.
Thank you
