In the 1880 history of Parke Co, In. there is an article about some Brights and Beadles who went there from St. Marys co, Md. It tells about Elizabeth (Burroughs) Brights ancestors. This is what is says:
Elizabeth Beadle is the daughter of John and Eizabeth Burroughs Bright and was b. Mar 12, 1805. Her ancestors settled in America in very early times. Her father cut down the first tree where the city of Washington now stands. He did duty in the War of 1812 and sank his boat in the Chesapeake Bay to keep it from being captured by the British. Her father lived to be 95 years old .
Elizabeth Burroughs was the daughter of Matthew Burroughs and Margaret Harrison of St. Mary's Co.
