Notes: The approximate birthdate of Nicholas Moore was ascertained from a lease for 129 A. which he held on Beaverdam manor in St. Mary's county. The land had been leased to "William More on the lives of Nicholas and James More" for an annual rent of twelve shillings six pence. In 1768, Nicholas was listed as the tenant in possession, aged 56, while James was 42. Nicholas More was listed as a member of St. Inigoes parish in 1768. His name does not appear in 1769, but that of Dian More does. No will or administration papers could be located for Nicholas Moore.

Nicholas Moore appears to have been a slaveholder. The parish records indicate that Henry Thompson, age 44, servant of Nicholas Moore, died in 1827.

In the death record in Missouri of their son Nicholas, Nicholas, Sr. and Diana are given as his parents. The maiden name of Diana appeared to be Fenel, but could also be construed to be Penel. Neither surname was located in research in St. Marys county, Maryland.
