I show your grandfather, James Sylvester Gibson, b. 2/15/1892, as the son of John Joseph Gibson and Sarah Marie "Sally" Cheseldine. I show his line as follows:

William Gibson & unknown spouse

John Gibson (b. 1680s or 1690s, d. after 8/6/1845) married Alice Marritt before 1717. Alice Marritt was the daughter of John Marritt and his first wife (name unknown).

Jeremiah Gibson & unknown spouse

Jeremiah Gibson (b. between 1766 & 1784) married Ann Yates, daughter of Martin Yates & Ann on 5/19/1804. Ann Yates was b. before 1770 and d. 1829.

George William Gibson (b. about 1805, d. 7/16/1866) married Sarah Elizabeth Lawrence on 2/1/1834. Sarah Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph Lawrence & Monica. She was born on 1/3/1815 and died 4/16/1882.

John Joseph Gibson (b. 8/16/1849, d. 1932) married Sarah Marie "Sally" Cheseldine on 9/28/1882. Sarah Maria "Sally" was the daughter of Gerard Cheseldine and Rebecca V. Ellis. She was born on 2/10 or 16/1857 (Note: Cemetery records show her birth year as 1859.) Note: According to "The Cheseldine Family Historical" by Edwin Beitzell, dated 1949, page 35, Section 107: "Capt. John Joe Gibson and Sarah lived most of their long and happy married life on Canoe Neck Creek in St. Mary's county, MD. Capt. John Joe was a famous river Captain on the Potomac River and spent many years in his schooner "Sunny South" plying the river and the Chesapeake Bay, hauling wheat, tobacco, oysters and the like to Washington and Baltimore."

James Sylvester Gibson married Violet Perry and had children named Gordon Perry (who married Betty Thatcher), James Everett ( don't have any marriage or children data) and James Relmond (b. 7/25/1917 & married Katherine Sweeney). I don't show any other descendants from this line. He had siblings named:

William Joseph, b. 5/8/1884, d. 1/15/1887;

Mary Ida, b. 8/1/1886, d. 9/17/1887;

Ann Rebecca, b. 11/17/1888;

Joseph Edgar, b. 7/16/1890; married Mary Eva Thompson on 12/21/1913. Mary Eva Thompson was born 12/171893, and died 5/1982. Had children named Mary Anne, Margaret Adelaide, William Thomas and John Edgar.

George Washington, b. 2/22/1894; married Elizabeth "Bessie" Bell Owens and had children named: Elizabeth (married William Nally); George Roland (married Estelle Milstead); John Wallace (married Birginia Sweeney); Bernice Gibson (married Jason or Jaxon Taylor); Eleanore; and Joseph. I don't show further descendants from this line.

Cecil Francis, b. 6/15/1896; married Elizabeth Shuet and had children named Leah Elizabeth (married Stillman Mattingly and had children named John Stillman, Elizabeth Agnes and Michael Francis); Mary Louise; Sarah Ann; and Cecil Francis, Jr.

Sarah Elizabeth, b. 2/23/1898 (married George Wyant).
