Searching for any information on Rev. William
Philander Chase JOHNSON (1806-1852) who probably
lived in St Mary's County in the early to
mid-1840's. The Reverend was an Episcopal minister,
perhaps the Rector of St Andrew's Parish. WPC
JOHNSON was married to Anne Eliza WASHINGTON
(1807-1851), d/o Bushrod WASHINGTON and Henrietta
Brayne SPOTSWOOD, both of VA.
The Johnson's had one son, George
Washington Doane JOHNSON, who was buried in St
Andrew's Episcopal Cemetery on 28 Sept 1846. A
contemporaneous death notice from the "Washington
Intelligencer" noted that WPC and Anne Eliza were
then living at "Bellwood, St Mary's County, Md."
Does anyone have any information on this minister,
or have any suggested sources of information? Was
"Bellwood" an estate or a town in St Mary's County? Any clue would be greatly appreciated. I do have a
lot of descendant information to share, if you are
interested. Thanks in advance for your help.
