BARNES' Balto. Co. Families: Benjamin WHEELER descended from John WHEELER of Charles Co. & was of PG Co. in 1714 when he purchased from Simon PEARSON. Benjamin's will, pr. 26 N 1741, named sons Thomas, Benjamin, Ignatius, & Leonard. [BARNES' reference: "John WHEELER, 1630-93, of Charles Co., & Descendants," by Walter V. BALL --TRY TO FIND THIS BOOK.]

FamilySearch.org has a database of the 1880 Census. District 8, Nelson Co., KY, WHEELER: Bennett, 92, MD MD MD, with widowed dau. Mary I. WIMSETT, 50, KY, & her dau Mary A., 14.

WHEELER, John F., 59, parents b. MD; wf. Mary A., 36; daus. Martha A., 38; Barbary, 19; Mary A., 16; Ugencier, 4; & Louisa, 2 [all b. KY].

WHEELER, Jefferson, 42, parents b. MD; wf. Mary E., 42, her parents b. VA & KY; sons John H., 20; Francis I., 18; & Charles T., 16 [all b. KY].

Have you checked for obituaries? There should be one in the 1880's for a man in his nineties. {What is the source of the information on the death of a Bennett WHEELER in 1875? It doesn't add up that he was b. 1790 & d. 1875 aged 77. If he married in 1814, he's not likely to be one b. ca. 1798.}

Francis WHEELER of Pr. Geo. Co., b. ca. 1671 (ch. b. 1691 - 1712; deposed in 1731 & 32, aged 60), and Luke, b. 1696/7, Charles Co., must have been related, since both families had sons named Ignatius, Wm., & Clement. Luke was apparently son of the Ignatius who died in 1698. I suspect that Luke was born in 1696 instead of 1697, since the father already mentioned an unborn child 14 Mar. 1698.

MD Cal/o Wills: Ignatius WHEELER, Charles Co., 14 Mar. 1698, 3 Aug. 1698. To wf. Frances, exx., for life, "Planter's Delight," then to son Luke, who also received "Rich Neck," which came to testator through marriage. To unborn child, "No Design," at Pormunky. To Jas. FENDALL & Wm. HATTON. Trustee brother-in-law Luke GARDNER. Wit: Richd. COLEMAN, Henry SMITH, Jos. PARKER.

Luke WHEELER, SM, 30 N 1741, 3 Mar. 1741/2. To son Ignatius, dw. plantation, "Maiden's Bower." To sons Wm. & Clement, "Planter's Delight," To sons Raphell & Bennet, wf. Protheser, exx., & daus. Wit: Richard, Mary, & Eliz. COOPER, Ignatius WHEELER, Jas. THOMPSON.

Leonard WHEELER of Charles Co. deposed in 1743, aged 52, which fits the son of Francis of PG. There was also a William WHEELER, 50 in 1693, residence not given, who deposed about John POPE of Talbot Co. He may be the one of Calvert Co. who deposed in 1664.

--My WHEELER line begins with George of New England. I just happen to have many references for Maryland because of other ancestors there.
