I have a St. Mary's couple, Jeremiah HAZEL and Margaret HILL, both born St, Mary's County, MD. Jeremiah, the son of Bennett and Ann HAZEL, was born about 1800, and died in 1850. He married Margaret HILL 6 May 1822 (Fresco book). Margaret was born between 1807-1809, but I do not know her parents. One tantalizing clue - in the 1850, 3rd district, St, Mary's County census, there is Margaret (Hill) HAZEL, age 43 (born 1807), and next door is her daughter, Susan (Hazel) DEAN, age 24 (born 1826) along with an elderly woman named Elizabeth HILL, age 80 (born 1770). Could this be the mother/grandmother???

There are only two HILL households in the 1820 St. Mary's census that have a 11-13 yr. old white female. One is William HILL and the other is John HILL. Could one of these be Margaret, born 1807-09? I found William HILL, born between 1765-1775, married to Elizabeth SMITH, born between 1765-1775 on 25 July 1806. Are these folks Margaret's parents?

Another clue - the 1840 St. Mary's census lists Jeremiah HAZEL next to William HILL. Are these families related? William dies between 1840-50, but I have no death record, obit, will or cemetery listing. Can anyone confirm or deny the parentage of Margaret?
