Surnames: GOODRUM, FREEMAN, GOLDSMITH
In researching the GOODRUM family of Brunswick Co VA I found GOODRUMs in St. Mary's CO, MD in the 1700-1800's. My ancester was James GOODRUM found in 1760 in Brunswick CO VA. His wife's name in one deed is given as Sary (Sarah) FREEMAN GOODRUM. One of his grandson's who died in Maury Co TN 1832 was named Thomas GOLDSMITH GOODRUM, and his wife was Martha Margaret Ann FREEMAN. James and Sarah had children: Martha, William, James, John, Bennett (my ancestor) and Thomas. I am also thinking the name Bennett is a clue to ancestry as that was an uncommon name for the 1700's. Bennett, William and Thomas are known Rev. War Soldiers from VA.

I am hoping to connect with someone that can help me determine if the GOODRUM/FREEMAN/GOLDSMITH's of St. Mary's Co connect with the VA group that eventually settled in KY, TN, GA, and MS.

Was Sarah GOODRUMs maiden name FREEMAN or GOLDSMITH as some researchs claim? When did James GOODRUM come from England, if he actually did.

Many thanks for any help that can be given.
