Robert G Charles died 22 Aug 1933 at Wye Mills. He had been the proprietor of the "Carriage House" which may have been an inn or restaurant. Does anyone know what newspaper would have covered that area in 1933 and are those newspapers available anywhere?

Thank you so much for posting this list.

Sadly, the little Mary I was looking for should have been with Daniel O, Gertrude and Clarence.

However, there are some other names and connections that I do recognize. Lucy P was Daniel's sister. Dawson and Margaret were their parents. So this will definitely help me fill in some holes.

Many thanks again!

Mary or Mary S. Caulk, born around 1899, died March 1909 in Baltimore if this is the same person.

Thanks,
Jane (Lee's wife)

I thought for sure I had posted this question on this board before, but couldn't find it, so I'll do it again. I am searching for information on the PARENTS of my 4 greats grandfather, James Madison Lomax. He was born in 1801 or 1802 and died in 1862. Lived his whole adult life in Talbot County, but birth certificate lists Baltimore as birthplace. I would love to find his parents. He had five wives while in Talbot--Rebecca Barwick, Ann Cooper and her sister Margaret, Ann Harrison, and Ann Holmes.

Patricia, and any one else researching GREENHAWK surname
I began researching the Greenhawk name many years ago without much luck. I have had many contacts with others who also have hit brick walls with that name. I have recently begun working on my husbands Greenhawk family again and would like to communicate with any one who is willing to share their information with me and in return I will share the little info I have accumulated.
Patricia, you mentioned Jonas Greenhawk. I have tried to find information about Jonas because my father-in-law said he had an Uncle named Jonas, however he never knew what happened to him. Apparently the family was seperated when they were all very young and they lost track of each other! Mr Greenhawk would never talk of his family, either because he really did not know about them or other reasons he chose not to discuss. When questioned he would always say "Let sleeping dogs lay" "The more you dig out of the past the more pain it can cause" therefore - NO information from him. He had a sister Edythe Harrison who was the same way. Please contact me and let me know where you got your information about your Jonas, need birth dates, who his children married, anything that would give me a clue as to where to look next for his family. Our Jonas Greenhawk was apparently born abt. 1879, Talbot County, MD. If we are talking about the same Jonas, I have a little information about his family to share with you.
Would any one happen to have information about Samuel Thomas Greenhawk who changed his name to Greenwood, moved from Talbot County to North Carolina, then to Florida or another Greenhawk that changed his surname to Love. Thanks, Sylvia

Joseph Harrison married Elizabeth Ashcroft, daughter of Thomas and Susannah (Elliott) Ashcroft. Children - *Thomas, Joseph, John, Elizabeth, Robert.

*Thomas Harrison (1734-1801), merchant/shipowner; lived at Crooked Intention; married Mary Porter. They had nine children - Joseph, Jonathan, Thomas, Daniel, John, Samuel, Elizabeth, **Mary, Ann.

**Mary Harrison (1767-1822) married her second cousin Joseph Harrison (1761-1815); five children: Jeremiah T., Eliza or Elizabeth, ***Mary Ann, Susan, Thomas Solomon.
Joseph and Mary (Harrison) Harrison built on part of Haphazard, 1805, and are buried there.

***Mary Ann, called Ann, Harrison (1802-1884) married John Graham (1778-1837) 1 Jan 1822. She was his second, possibly third, wife. Their daughter Ellen Jane Graham (1825-1870) married Francis Asbury Wrightson (1812-1898) 31 Aug 1848. This is our line.

Ellen Jane's sister Susannah Graham (1830-1912) married Edward Harrison (1825-1913) 24 Dec 1849. I don't know how Edward fits into the Talbot County Robert Harrison family, or if in fact he does. Would appreciate any info on him. They had a son Edward Graham Harrison who married Eleanor ?
(possibly Worthman).

I have no information on the descendants of the other children of Joseph & Elizabeth (Ashcroft) Harrison.

Hope this helps a little.
Betty

I visited the Oxford cemetery today. We were pleased to find a listing of the burials. It is called "Oxford Cemetery 18th, 19th, 20th Centuries" Compiled by Robert J. Patton, Jr. There is a copy in the Oxford library. The names of people buried in this large cemetery are listed alphabetically with information available from the cemetery records. We found no markers for the early graves we sought, but found the entry in this book. If you found a record, you could then check the actual cemetery records for the specific area of the cemetery where the burial occurred. You may not find a marker, but you may find related graves of interest.

Good luck,
Boots Cassel

The following appears on the Maryland MedChi website.

"History
In January, 1799, in Annapolis, with 101 leaders of the medical profession representing most of Maryland's counties present, the Maryland Legislature approved a petition for a charter for an incorporated society of physicians in Maryland to be known as the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland.
Well I suppose that would make you Tina, Irene's daughter. Your maternal grandmother, Freda Marie Cooper (maiden name), was my mother's older sister. I saw you last at her funeral in Neavitt.

I haven't looked at that line of Harrisons, but have a lot of info on your maternal grandmother's side. Start with the 1930 census (latest available for public viewing)on ancestry.com if you have an account there. If not, try the Maryland Public Library website where you can access Heritage Quest census data for free with a library card (http://www.sailor.lib.md.us/). Select the Heritage Quest icon, enter the UPC code from the back of the card, and you should have full access to census records, and their other sources. Concentrate on Estelle Harrison and Talbot County, Maryland. Its possible some of their children were born by then but not definite. You will probably be able to find her husband's name from that census. Then you can work backwards (1920, 1910, 1900, etc.) from that point.

Also check the Social Security death index for those that have died. It is available on ancestry.com (pay account) or familysearch.org (free). Also check for any obits on the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home webpages (http://www.fhnfuneralhome.com/). They had them back for a few years last I checked.

Any questions or assistance needed email me at CWR4586@aol.com.

Chuck Robey

From what I have read here and what my mother told me, he is supposedly of Cherokee blood born 1880 He registered in 1942 for the draft. It states he has blue eyes . 5.7 and 130lbs. He was a field worker.I also read there were other
blue eyed cherokees. Can anyone help me. I am doing this for my son , daughter and now granddaughter. Thank you for any help in advance.
I was born and raised in Claiborne (born 1966). I may not be able to tell you too much about the history of the town, but I do know some of the people that have lived there since before my time and may be able to help you.

I feel so stupid. I should check my spelling before I post. The user name of this thread is wrong. ttyler302 is the correct name. If there are any responses to this, please put them under ttyler302 (I skipped the letter "L" in my user name the first time.

My parents split up just before I was born, so I don't know much. I do know my father, Herman Edward Harrison, Sr. His mother was Estelle Harrison. He has a sister, Wanda. He had a twin brother, Otis, who passed away just a couple months ago. He had another brother, "Bud", who passed away a few years ago.
My older brother, Herman Edward "Eddie" Harrison, Jr. passed away almost 22 years ago (car accident). I know I have two half brothers (from my father's second marriage) and I have met one of them (Roy Harrison), but haven't been able to get in touch with the other one (Mark Harrison- who lives in FL somewhere).
Any of these names sound familiar?
