John Clayton Johnson went by his middle name and most people called him "Clayt" Johnson.
I delivered the Grit newspaper weekly to Clayt when I was a boy. I also worked on the farm with his son Wesley. At that time Roby was in the navy. This was before World War II. He propbably went in to the navy around 1937 or 1938. Wesley went into the navy about 1944 after graduating from Snow Hill High School in Snow Hill, MD. He was involved in the invasion of the Phillipines. Roby was on two diffrent ships that were sunk during WW2. Roby was discharged after WW2, but reenlisted during the Korean War. He retired from the navy with about 20 years in and got a pension. After retiring from the navy, I know that he had worked in an auto parts store and later owned his own grocery store in Girdletree, MD.
