I'm looking for more information (or ANY) on an ancestor of mine, John Zillheart (Zelhard) Wells, who was born in either MD or PA (earlier census records indicate that he was born in MD, later ones say PA). I have no information on siblings or parents.
What information I do have is all post-marriage:

Dist. 68, Petttis Co. MO, 19 Aug. 1850
John Zilheart, 54, wagon maker, born MD
Nancy, 55, KY
Britton, 28, wagon maker, KY
William, 24, wagon maker, KY
Philip S., 22, " " "
Mary, 20, KY
Wesley, 17, KY

Sedalia, Pettis Co. MO, 27 July 1870,
Wells, Charles, 25, harness maker, born MO
John, 24, MO
Oliver, 20, MO
Clay, 14, MO
Wesley, 11. MO
Mary, 23, MO
Susan, 46, KY
Zelhard, John, 74, wagon maker, born in PA.

As you can see, there are some differences in the place of birth for not only John, but his children as well, claiming that they were either born in Kentucky or Missouri.
Before 1850, I have no clue as to where he resided or when he was married, although it must have been around the 1820's. I'm not entirely sure when he moved from the state he was born in to Missouri.

If anyone can give me any possible clues, it would be most appreciated. I'm afraid that between the strange census discrepencies and the lack of any substantial information, I'm very very stuck.

Thanks in advance,
Michelle Wells
