Do you know the Cemetry in NA where Alexander resides? I find if you visit the location a lot of the mystery is removed because you find 'family'. Was up in NA yesterday and probably will be going back next month.
You should visit the "vermontcivilwar.org" site. I think it has a few of your relatives on it. An Alexander is named but don't know if who you are looking for. One below is referred to as "George" the other has a connecting link to a cemetry and someone who added the info. Correct Birth Town/Last Name - Hope some of this adds to your 'golden nuggests'.
