I believe I have found notice of their marriage in Frelighsburg, Quebec on 12 March 1828. I also found a census from Canada 1851 listing John Backer, Elbarria Backer with children, Polinea, Curtus and Tampline. I believe Tampline is my great-great grandfather Tamplin S Baker. Some say Elvira is the daughter of Willard Smith and Amy Gardner, but I cannot confirm this, though much is written of the Gardner family. Does anyone have evidence of either John 2nd or Elvira's parentage?
