Trying to get by the brick wall of Frank Hagerty's family. He was born about 1849 in either Ireland or St. John, NB Canada. He went by both Patrick Francis and Frank P. Haggerty. He married in 1870 in Boston and lived there til his death in 1897. Of the 7 children born to Frank and Sarah, I have only been able to follow two to adulthood. I think the others may have died as children. His wife Sarah nee Thompson died in 1888.
Recently while looking at daughter Mary J's 1904 marriage information she gave 509 Eighth St. South Boston as her residence. In the 1905 Boston City Directory, Catherine Haggerty, widow of Patrick Haggerty, was listed at that address. In the 1880 census Patrick Haggerty, 55, marble cutter, is living at 42 Dorchester Avenue. SB with wife Katharine 50 and daughter Katharine, 12. Eighth St. and Dorchester Avenue are not far from each other. I realize that the name Patrick Hagerty in Boston is not uncommon but I wonder if there is a connection between Frank P Hagerty, my Great grandfather and , Patrick Haggerty, the late husband of the widow Catherine living at 509 Eighth St. The daugher married John White and they lived in Dorchester.
Anyone researching the Hagerty/Haggerty surname in South Boston in the late 1880's and early 1900's?
