This has been driving me crazy for awhile.
On a trip to Wachusett Mountain one spring a couple of years ago we had done the loop at the top/lookout tower, etc. Upon leaving, rather than go back out to Rt. 140 as we had come in we took a back, somewhat main road down from the mountain.
On the right side of this road we happened upon an old historic cemetery set down from the road. The cemetery had stone walls enclosing it on at least three sides and slate markers set such that they ran parallel to the direction of the road and the inscriptions were facing away from the road.
I think there were one or two old houses in the vicinity but on the side of the road opposite from the cemetery. When we followed the road the rest of the way down we eventually intersected Rt. 140 again.
It was a "classic" and picturesque cemetery and we'd like to go back to look at it in more detail. It was rather damp, gray and chilly day the first time when we accidentally found it so we didn't spend as much time looking at the stones and inscriptions as we would have liked.
Does anyone know the name of this cemetery and the name of the road we were on?
