My immigrant ancestor was Thomas ELLITHORPE, Jr., born in 1601 in Yorkshire, England. He left England in June 1638 in the ship JOHN with son Nathaniel and daughter Mary. The family finally settled at Rowley, MA. Thomas' wife died in England and Thomas married the widow, Mrs. Abigail SUMER in 1642. They had a son, John ELLITHORPE, born in 1643 at Rowley, and a daughter, Abigail, born in 1645, also at Rowley. And so the ELLITHORPE family got its start in the New World.

Descendants of Thomas ELLITHORPE Jr. included Henry Sr. (1685-1790), born in Essex Co., MA; John W. Sr., (1776-1856), born in Berkshire Co., MA; Timothy Chapman ELLITHORPE (1814-1861), born in Franklin Co., VT; and Myron Wright Ellithorpe (1840-1925), born in Cook Co., IL.

I will share family data. Best regards from Grants Pass, OR..
