That Fred laPIne was my great grandfather.

His mother's name was Angelique. the 1920 census shows Angeleique Scheff married to Napoleon Scheff, with my great grandfather listed as a step son.

does that help?

I'm searching for any more information about Angelique. I know she and Fred came to Alpena Michigan in 1870. I don't know if she was already married to Napoleon Scheff at that time or if they married after 1870. I can't find her maiden name or her birth or marraige records in Canada.
