MRS. E. R. DES JARDINS IS TAKEN BY DEATH --- The Alpena News, 26 Feb 1919

After a lingering illness of ten weeks, the result of a stroke of paralysis, Mrs. Edmund R. DesJardins of this city passed away at ... o'clock this morning at her home on Lockwood street.

Mrs. DesJardins was a member of one of the best known French families in the city, the family having been prominent in social and civic affairs here for about thirty-three years. Personally, Mrs. DesJardins was a typical French lady, gracious and kind of manner with hosts of friends, to whom the death of the gentle woman will come as a personal bereavement. Of a deep religious temperament, she was always a fervent and active member of St. Anne's Catholic church from where the funeral services will take place Friday morning at 9:00 o'clock, Rev. Father Charles A. Dequoy officiating.

Mary Anne Currier DesJardins was born in Madrid, N. Y., in 1813, afterwards removing to Quebec where she was married to Edmund R. DesJardins whose death occurred about three years ago. After coming to Alpena, they resided on Chisholm street at Tenth where they were engaged in the grocery business for many years, finally removing to their farm situated just outside the city limits. After the death of Mr. DesJardins, Mrs. DesJardins removed to the city where she has since resided on Lockwood street.

The only surviving relatives are her brother J. L. Currier of this city and one sister, Mrs. R. _. Scott of Tacoma, Wash., Ernest DesJardins of this city, Edmund DesJardins, Chicago are nephews and Mrs. Albert Frost, Mrs. A. A. Harrington, both of Chicago, Mrs. __oyd Fitzgerald, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Rex Fitzgerald, Detroit are nieces; Walter Crrrier, DesMoines; Ernest Currier, Tacoma, nephews; and Miss Yvonne Currier, Seattle, a niece.
