So it would appear that Sherman Johnson died Sept.7, 1880, in Almira, Benzie, Michigan. No one could figure out why a 75+ year-old man would sell out and move from Medina Co., OH to Benzie Co, but I also happen to think that Samuel Johnson (died Nov. 5, 1880, also born in Connecticut, from Almira) is his brother. That might be the link.
An obituary from a local paper might be able to clear things up a bit... one for either brother might link them.
I am really looking for their father obviously, and I have my gut tells me that it is Cyrus M. Johnson of Medina Co., OH (1850 census)but there is a lot of vague details.
I am a "cluster" researcher, so anything about the Johnson's from Benzie would be helpful.
