I'm looking for information on a Forest Gerard/Girard, wife Elsie and family who lived in Chippewa County in 1910. I believe Forest was my Grandfather's brother and he is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie. He died in January 1913.

Also buried there is an Elizabeth A. Penland Gerard daughter of Ambrose Pendlan/Penland , who may be his grandmother. (?)

Any information on the family would be greatly appreciated.

Leslie

I came across your posting on this site as I was trying to track down more information on James Monkman and Sarah A. Monkman, who are the parents of John, Ida, Hiram and James F. Monkman. I've gotten as far as their coming from Canada, but that's it.

I have been trying to trace my grandmother's maiden name (Bousho) for about a year and a half, with little or no success.

She had 5 brothers : William, Desmond, Edward, Matt and Fred. Her name was Ada Marguerite Bousho (aka Maggie). She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Joseph Bousho and Margaret in 1881. She had 5 children; 4 boys and 1 girl, (Myra) who is my aunt; and the only child of the above 5 children still alive. She gave me a photograph of a Fred and Rose Bousho's children; their names were Eva and Lyle taken about 1925.

I am willing to share any information; I hope we can help each other trace our family roots.

The message was sent to you 11/29/2002. She married Jean Baptiste Perrault and they lived in the Mackinac County area for years. Don't know where your family comes in yet. Keep in touch. June
Re: LAMARANDIERE, etc.

Dear Jim,

I found your old posting regarding the LAMARANDIERE/AIKENS line. I do not believe we have corresponded before, but feel as though I know you, given all your postings on collateral lines that I am equally interested in. I descend from Henry Robinson and Josette DeRosier. Recently I have been working with some other Robinson Researchers regarding the collateral line of Leonard Robinson. Len Robinson (white) is listed in Durant's field notes on page 23-50 as the second husband of Ne-gon Caub-mo-say. Durant listed two children on this page, "Mary - wife of Luke Wah-bindwetto", and Wm. Robinson (age 39). Also in Durant's field notes is a letter from Mrs. Mary Wabindato regarding "Willie Robinson" "my half Brother on my Mothers's side". It is my belief that Mary (Robinson) Wabindato was the daughter of Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay and Key-way-gaw-bo-we as evidenced in Durant's field notes page 6-58A and merely adopted the Robinson surname; and Willie or William Robinson was the son of Leonard Robinson and Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay. I do not trace Key-way-gaw-bo-we beyond the Indian annuity rolls where he is enrolled or enumerated with Pay-quo-tusk's band. Also enrolled in Pay-quo-tusk's band is Mrs. David Smith (Lydia Nashor Anderson) whose daughter Martha Caroline Smith was the third wife of Leonard Robinson.

Getting back to Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay. In 1870, Ne-gon CaubMoSay drew annuity payments with Maw-beece's band. The best reference I have found regarding the Cob-mo-say's is in the 1931 story by Richard E. Southwick found on this link: http://kent.migenweb.net/towns/lowell/1931/cobmoosa.html where it refers to Negonce as the orphaned daughter of Gaw-Ge. I am quite certain tha Gaw-ge is referenced as Kaw-ge-she-seh in the Indian annuity payment rolls, and in 1870 is referenced as 8-50 Kaw-ge-she-seh or James Cobmosay enrolled with Maw-beece's band. Kaw-ge-she-say held a land patent in Oceana county, perhaps a property sales search would give some insight as to when he died and the disposition of the property. I do not know when Kaw-ge-she-seh or Gawge or James Cobmosay died, or how old Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay was when she was orphaned nor do I have civil marriage records for Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay.

Getting back to Mary (Robinson) Wabindato. The Durant Roll lists 5-49, Joe (Lewis)(1st husband) dead, wife Mary Wabindwetto. While I have yet to find a Durant note regarding Steve Akins as the second of three husbands Mary (Robinson) Wabindato, it is evidenced on the death certificate of Maud Wabindato who died 23 Apr 1914 in Elbridge, and also referenced in your posting:

12. Aken/Etienne/Steve LAMARANDIERE/AKINS b. c.1837, m. (1) Mary ROBINSON/KIWEGAKWE, m. (2) Mary WAKEFIELD, b. c.1868, (daughter of Amos WAKEFIELD and Mary _____).
Children by Mary ROBINSON/KIWEGAKWE:
i Jacob AKENS b. c.1867, m. Agnes BAILEY, b. c.1869, MI, (daughter of Joseph BAILEY and Ann-au-qua/Sesaqua/Say-sa-gah COBMOSSA).
ii Andrew AKINS b. May 1872/8, MI, m. (1) c. 1896, Susan TE-BAH-CHIM/KAGIJEKWAM/SHEGONEBI, b. Apr 1880, m. (2) Lizzie _____. Aka Wash-be-ga.
iii Alice AIKEN b. c.1874, m. 25 Jun 1895, in St. Joseph, Elbridge, Oceana Co., MI, John SHAYGONAYBE/SHEGONEBI, b. c.1862, (son of William SHAY-GO-NAY-BE and Be-Moch/Pa-Moch PUCKNABANO). Unsure of parents - MR lists fa as Jim.
iv Nellie Berta AIKEN b. 4 Jun 1894, bp. 26 May 1895, St. Joseph, Elbridge, Oceana Co., MI.
v Martin AIKEN b. 4 Jun 1894, bp. 25 Nov 1895, St. Joseph, Elbridge, Oceana Co., MI.
Children by Mary WAKEFIELD:
vi Maud AKINS b. c.1895, MI, m. _____ WABINDATO. Maud died 23 Apr 1914, Elbridge, Oceana Co., MI. May be from 1m as mother's name given as ROBINSON.
vii Sarah AIKEN b. 30 Sept 1901, bp. 29 Oct 1901, Fern, Oceana Co., MI.
viii Emilia Emma/Amy AKINS b. 30 Oct 1903, bp. 11 Nov 1903, Fountain, Mason Co., MI.
(end of partial posting)

While I have not traced out the Aiken line and further digress, I also find it interesting that you have Alice Aiken that married John Shaygonaybe, whose mother was Be-moch (Pucknabano) Shaygonaybe. Be-moch Pucknabano was a sister of Mary Ann or Nab-bah Puknobino, and it was Nah-bah that was the first husband of Henry Robinson (named earlier in my reply as the third husband of Josette DeRosier).

Getting back to Mary (Robinson) Wabindato's half brother Willie. According to his death certificate, William Robinson was born 20 Jan 1871 in Michigan, and died 20 Sep 1914, Muskegon Co., MI.
Obituary:
The Muskegon Chronicle, 21 Sep 1914, p. 7:
Captain William Robinson
Captain William Robinson of White Lake, for 30 years a Great Lakes captain, died Sunday afternoon at Hackley hospital after an illness of two months. Captain Robinson, aged 48, was born at White Lake. When a mere youth he started his career as a lake sailor. He leaves his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Len Robinson, several brothers and one sister. The remains will be taken to White Lake where burial will take place.

The Muskegon Chronicle, 22 Sep 1914, p. 2:
William Robinson, forty-four years old, a native of White River township died in Hackley hospital Sunday at 11 o'clock, after a lingering illnes, being survived by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He was unmarried.

William Robinson is also named as a surviving brother in the obituary of another 1/2 sister, Minnie M. (Robinson) Hall.
Obituary:
Muskegon Daily Chroncile, Thursday 2 May 1907:
CANCEROUS GROWTH FATAL
Mrs. M.M. Hall of Montague Township Dies at Hackley Hospital
After being at Hackley hospital for ten days, Mrs. M.M. Hall of Montague township died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She was 33 years of age. Last August it was discovered that she was suffering with a cancerous growth in the stomach, after which she had been rapidly weakening.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Hall leaves her father and mother, Captain and Mrs. Leonard L. Robinson, of White Lake township, and five brothers and four sisters. The brothers are all marine men, who reside with their parents when at home. The brothers and sisters are William Robinson of White Lake township, Mrs. James Keho of Chicago, and Fred Robinson, Jerome Robinson, Oliver Robinson, Miss Lydia Robinson, Stephen Robinson, Miss Margaret Robinson, and Miss Jessie Robinson of White Lake township. Mrs. Hall was born in Grand Haven, coming to White Lake township with her parents when two years of age. She was married to Mr. Hall in 1893. She was a member of the North Muskegon Methodist Episcopal church, and of the Ladies Aid society of the church. She was also a member of Lucky Hive, No. 190, L50. T.M.M.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon. Rev. W.R. Wright pastor of the North Muskegon M.E. church will conduct the services, which will take place at 1:30 at the residence and at 3 o'clock at the church.
(obit courtesy of Jenni Penn)

On her death certificate, Minnie M. (Robinson) Hall was said to be the daughter of Leonard Robinson and Mary DeVernie. For the life of me, I can not place Mary DeVernie. Mary (DeVernie) Robinson's father escapes me. I would guess that Mary DeVernie was born about 1850 and is most likely a grandaughter of Pierre Duvernay.

While Pierre Duvernay was brought up as a Catholic, he was converted to Presbyterian my William Montague Ferry. Along with Ferry, Pierre Duvernay was one of the Charter Members of the Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven. I have often wondered what happened to the Rev. Ferry's baptismal records.

While I feel like I am all over the map regarding this posting, it is the death certificate of Maud Wabindato, daughter of Steve Akins that brought me to this board. I write in hopes that you will see something interesting here, especially regarding the families of Negonce or Ne-gon CaubMoSay, and/or Mary DeVernie.

Sincerely, Ron Sieber
rjsieber@q.com

With his 1818 birth date I was thinking it possible he would;ve been a brother to your Moses? Have you any siblings for Moses, or a McAbee parent? Linda

I don't think so- my great-grandfather Daniel Parish (1872-1958) was always Dan and not Danny. His father was Dan Parish, but I have no record of when or where he was born (but his wfe was Catherine Teeple 1852-1925?). There was also a son of Dan Parish & Edna McKay named Daniel (my grandmother's brother) but he went by DJ (Daniel James, I think).

I am looking for info on Eugene Owen McSweeney. Jerimiah & Nellie (Ring) McSweeney gave birth to Eugene Owen McSweeney who married Mary Green about 1860 in Ireland. They had 9 children, but only 2 lived long enough to immigrate to the states. They settled in Michigan's upper peninsula. John married Elizabeth Lynch about 1884 in Sault Ste. Marie who had Helena, Eugene (my great grandfather), William and Mary Ann Sweeney. James, Eugene's other son married Elizabeth Fischer who had John, Flourance, Mary and Gracie (Donnelly) Sweeney. Eugene (John's son) married Ada Gray who had Richard, Ethel, Edith and Aaron (my grandfather) Sweeney. Aaron married Eleanor who had several children including Eugene (my father).

If you have any info on this family please contact me.

Then Lilias was born August 7, 1832, then Alexandria female ws born April 27, 1834, then Andrew Cooper Mckay(my great, great grandfather) was born Feb 16, 1836. He later married Mary Jane Walt. then John Mckay was born in Dornoch Jan 5 1838, Sarah Mckay ws born also Jan 5, 1838, twins. Margaret Mckay was then born July 11, 1839. Georgina Fraser Mckay was born September 12, 1842.
On the ships list, it list a few more kids than the above from a Scotland census. They are in 1855 listed as William age 11, James age 7, Mary age 6, Hector age 3. There could have been more after they came to the US but I don't know.
They landed in New York and I have found my ancestors in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario as well as Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. Andrew later went to Washington state with a few of his children after his wife died. He is buried in Tenino, Washington. Hector married a Phoebe Hoover in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan in 1880.
Some are found in Lambton County Onatario, down across Detroit, Mi area.
Dear Whitefeathers: Please write back to me at malcolmxl@sympatico.ca. I am the great great grandaughter of James Brennan and Julia Doughan of Sheenboro Quebec. My great great grandpa was James Brennan Jr. one of his children. James was in the Trout Lake area and was one of the first settlers from Kilkenny. James Brennan Jr. married Olivine Fleury in Sheen/chichester area and some of the kids of James Sr. ended up in northbay, MIchael Brennan was the mayor of northbay. James and Olivine had my great grand pa Tom Brennan . They are all from the Isle Allumette area. The Meehans, Doughans Brennans all of those areas are also my relatives. I am curious as to which brennan is your great great dad. Linda
