I am not part of the family; I just found a wedding announcement in 1972 newspaper. I have NOT been able to find a real family tree who would like this information. While working on the tree I found the grooms father's Obit (John Sperl) and put it on the tree.
I am hoping that by putting this information on a message board then maybe a relative will find it.
Thanks

Belinda Easlick of Elsie, Michigan

wed

Kenneth Sperl of Elsie, Michigan

on 24 Jun 1972

brides parents
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Easlick Sr.
of Lask Road, Elsie, Michigan

groom's parents
Mr. & Mrs. John Sperl
of Island Road, Elsie, Michigan
-----
bridesmaids:
Patty Sperl, sister of groom

Mrs. Mike Kadlek twin sister of bride (Belinda)
of Ovid, Michigan

Mrs. Robert Easlick Jr. sister-in-law of bride
of Owosso, Michigan
------
Ring Bearer: Scotty Easlick

of Owosso, Michigan
--------------------
Mrs. Lily Simpson of Apple Valley, Calif
[Apple Valley, San Bernardino, California]

grandmother of bride (maiden name of Belinda's mother)
---------------------------------
Link to item in the newspaper.

Michigan
The Argus-Press - Jul 1, 1972
Owosso, Mich.,
Saturday

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=VA4oAAAAIBAJ&sjid=8...
=================
I Created a Tree on Ancestry.com, called:

Belinda Eastlick wed Ken Sperl June 1972 Family Tree

Link to Created Family Tree
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/41006070/family
=======================

We have finally found our elusive 2nd grandfather. Now we are trying to add/find as much information on him as possible. He was from Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania and after the CW he moved to Lebanon, Clinton County, Michigan where he was enumerated on the agricultural schedule page 5 line 7. from 30 June 1870. He at some time before his move to Kansas, married an Elizabeth L Simmons or Simpson (according to his third wife's pension application). Elizabeth is enumerated with him in 1875 Kansas census under the name of Dollinds. She is reported as being from New York in this census. She killed her self by cynide in 1883. We believe her date of birth to be around 1842. We are not sure if the last name Simmons is her married or maiden name that was given to John Dollinds third wife Jenny Baldwin. But, we would love for some one to look at the marriage certificates and see if they can find one for John S Dollins or Dollinds between 1867-1875.

I realize that I am replying to a very old post, but I would love to see the picture of Comfort Ranney and family if it is still available. Also, any information you have on him would be helpful. I find lots of information on his Civil War service with an enlistment date of April, 1862, but also a draft record dated July 1863. Very confusing, and trying to make heads or tails about it.

Sincerely,
Chandra Blazek
Senior VP of Interpretation
The Ohio Living History Society

I want to share some old photos that my great great greats had passed down. They came to Clinton County around early 1850's and lived in St. Johns specifically from 1870's to about 1907.
The forst photo has 1885 written on top. 6 men stand/pose outside Saint Johns House. Any info on this building would be appreciated.

The second appears that it may be a later date, and of what is probably the main street.

I have found out her maiden name was Mary E. Horton. She was born in New York in 1862. Her father was Hiram Horton. She married Charles Wesley Fredon and had a son who was born the year before she died. She had one sister, Charlotte. there were no other children listed on the census. I have found where Hiram is buried (in Duplain cemetery, along with his wife, Esther. )

I could not find any info. on her also except for the listing at www.dewittlibrary.com/CCHS for what I guess is the same news article you are referring to in the Clinton Republican on 4 Aug 1887 pg. 1, col. 4. You could send for her DC. Here is the URL for that. They also have a search function there for deaths and marriages, but the online search for them start in 1927. BTW, her name was spelled as Fredon at the Dewitt Library site. I found it by searching for Horton.

http://www.clinton-county.org/Government/CountyClerk/BirthDe...

If you search for the deaths there, Robert is listed and what papers his obit is in. The CCHS contact info. is there and they will get it for you and possibly June's also. I tried to find obits for them thru. GenealogyBank and NewsLibrary but I guess those papers are not on there...Clinton papers and the Lansing State Journal. Might be able to get their obits at the Lansing SJ web site archives www.lsj.com, but will prob. cost $$ I think CCHS charges also.

I’m not related to any member of this family.
1940 is the last available census at this time.

Facts you should know about the early census records -
All census records [1790 – 1840] prior to the 1850 census ONLY listed the head of household; whether male or female.

NO specific age was stated for any family member
NO place of birth was stated – city, state, or country
NO city, town, or village is stated – only the county; however some census takers listed the township
NO street address was stated
NO marital status was stated – single, married, widowed, or divorced
NO family relationship was stated – brother, sister, cousin, son, daughter, wife, inlaw, etc…
NO occupation was stated
NO parental birthplaces are stated
NO race was stated [but assume “white”]

1850, 1860 & 1870 census records do not show family relationships, marital status or parental birthplaces.

Step children are not enumerated as “step” children
Adopted children are not enumerated as “adopted”
Grand children are not enumerated as “grand children”
Orphaned children were not enumerated as "orphan"

1850 is the 1st census that shows all family members

1880 is the 1st census that shows parental birthplaces and family relationships +++

NOTE -
Michigan did not require “by law” birth, marriage & death registrations until 1867.

1850 -
There are NO Page family members in Clinton county, MI.

WHERE is Cazenovia?????????????
State & county

Need DOB + birthplace for Polly Page.

WHO did she marry?????
Need his DOB + birthplace

I'm guessing this is "your" Charles Rosseau - the name is spelled with a B in front of it, but note his occupation shown on the census image (line 9):
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=19...=

You could request a copy of his death certificate or Civil War records to get more information.
Hi,

Here is one record for a Charles Rosseau(note spelling)...

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?ti=0&indiv=tr...

This lists his home in the 1890 census as St. Ignace but I can't find that census record.
Here are some other links I have found but I don't know if they are my man or not.

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?ti=0&indiv=tr...

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?ti=0&indiv=tr...

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?ti=0&indiv=tr...

http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=26101&p...

http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=6803&pi...

http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=18555&p...

These are some of the links with Charles Rosseau ***(note spelling)***

If you want to see my (the one I know is my 2nd great grandfather) you can take a look at the 1860 census, 1870 or 1880 census records...

I believe there are at least 2 different Charles Rosseau's I'm following here and my DREAM is to link and find some verification that one of these men is my 2nd great grandfather but I can't find any mention of family which is what I would like.

Delayne

Delayne, you say in your post that you "have found a Charles Rosseau who was living in Dallas, Clinton, Michigan and in the 23 Infantry in Company E or I but his mailing address was still St. Ignace."

What are your sources for his mailing address and military unit?

If we know what records you already have, that might help us know what else to look for.

I'm following any lead I can get to break down my 15 year old brick wall. My 2nd great grandfather was born 1832 in Canada. He married a Charlotte Martin (daughter of Solomon Martin) in Michigan and they had children together:

Joseph M. Rousseau b. abt 1867 in Michigan
Charlotte J. Rousseau b. abt. 1869 in Michigan
Charles Rousseau b. abt. 1871 in Michigan
John Jonas Rousseau b. May 17, 1875 in Beaver Island, Michigan

The family was mostly living in St. Ignace, Michigan between 1860-1880 but I have found a Charles Rosseau who was living in Dallas, Clinton, Michigan and in the 23 Infantry in Company E or I but his mailing address was still St. Ignace. Can someone in Dallas try to find any information on this Charles Rosseau for me and I will try to compare it to my family to see if there is a connection?

Thank you,
Delayne

Hi,

My 2nd great grandfather, Charles Rousseau, has been a brick wall for me for about 15 years and I just received a lead but I need help with it. I'm beginning to think he fell from the sky and got sucked back up again later!!

Here is what I know about Charles Rousseau (Rousseaux, Russaw, Reso--these are spellings I've encountered):

Charles Rousseau born abt. 1832 in Canada(unknown date, actual year, bith place or parents names) was with Charlotte Martin (Daughter of Solomon).

Charlotte already had 2 kids with her 1st husband, Antoine Babinbeau(x)(don't know if he died, they divorced or what happened) when she was with Charles. They were Antoine Babineau(x), born abt. 1851 in Michigan and Macala Babineau(x) born abt. 1859 in Michigan. **I'm beginning to wonder tho if Macala may have been Charles' kid. **Only can find Macala in the 1860 census then he disappears.

Charles and Charlotte had several kids together (all had Rousseau as their last names:
Joseph M. born abt. 1867 in Michigan, Charlotte J. born abt. 1868 in Michigan (can only find her in the 1870 census then she disappears), Charles born abt. 1871 in Michigan (family says he moved to Duluth, MN-but I've been unable to verify this) and my great grandfather, John Jonas born May 17, 1875 in Beaver Island, Michigan.**Family story is John Jonas said he was raised on the Red Cliff Indian Reservation in Wisconsin. Raised by people other than his parents (but I have yet to find any information on this).

John Jonas moved to Minnesota and raised his family **this is the only line I have any information on. If needed I will provide it but lets get back to Charles and Charlotte.

I've been told Charles and Charlotte married in Ste-Anne, St. Ignace, Mackinac, Michigan on November 25, 1854 but I can't find the documentation for this yet.

I was given the following information which is what I'm hoping someone here can help me obtain to either prove this is my 2nd great grandfather or not.

Charles Rousseau, Drafted 1 year at Dallas, Clinton County, age 37, assigned to Company E. He died July 1898 and is buried at Bengal, Michigan with a home address of St. Ignace.

Can someone obtain any death or burial information for me? I would love to know what the death certificate says or find an obituary to see who Charles' family members are.
I have looked at the online cemetery transcriptions but did not find anything for a Charles Rousseau.

If he was enlisted in the military would he have to have been a US citizen? Would he had to have been naturalized?

Please I am becoming very desperate for any information on this family....I don't know what else to do.

I do have all of the cesus records for Charles in Michigan and John and family in Minnesota so what I need now is Charles' death information. I would also love to get any information on any of the kids (other than John) or Charlotte.

Thank you very much,
Delayne
