William Fugere charged with bigamy, declared insane 1921

Classification: Query
Surnames: Fugere, Deshrman
William Fugère, son of Orphire "Fred" Fugère and Albine Marchand was charged with bigamy in 1921, after marrying in Escanaba three women over a period of four years without obtaining divorces from the previous wives. While awaiting action on the bigamy charges, he was declared insane by a board of physicians in the Probate Court and was eventually remanded to Newberry State Hospital.

The only marriage record I can find is that of his (first?) marriage to Charlotte Deshrman on 1 Jul 1916. I've not been able to discover what became of her, nor do I have the names of the two additional wives. That's what I'm hoping to find. I know that Newberry closed as a psych facility about 20 years ago ... are their records still in existence? If so, how would I go about getting copies?

William was eventually released (or escaped). He was in Porter IN evading police on check forgery charges. He fell off the top of a moving train in an effort to flee. He died from his injuries (Aug 1922).

Hoping to find:
-What ever happened to Charlotte Deshrman
-Names and marriage dates of wives #2 and #3
-Any documentation on the bigamy charges and the declaration of insanity (or a place to request info on these)

Thanks
Tiffany Fugère (William is my great grand uncle)
