Surnames: Smith, Merces, Bean, Neeley, Stoolmaker, Wyman, Lovelass, Warren, Burton
GENESSE COUNTY - MICHIGAN

I have many, many relatives from Genesee County, especially in the areas surrounding Flint, i.e. Clio, Vienna Twp, etc.;
and many living relatives in the entire county.

I have info on my surname list. Presently besides working too on the surnames mentioned, I recently learned of my Indian heritage, but alas the maiden name is SMITH.

The following info is listed in a Family Bible dated 1867:

John SMITH - Sept. 26, 1825
Old England County
Kent Smarden

Joptha Thomas SMITH - March 12, 1843
Walworth, Waini Co., New York
(HAVE LEARNED THAT WAINI COUNTY IS ACTUALLY WAYNE CO., NY)

Jane SMITH - Feb 12, 1831
England. , Co. Kent

Mary Elizabeth SMITH - March 25, 1845
Walworth Township - Waini Co., New York

Eliza Jane SMITH - July 18, 1846
Walworth, Waini - New York

John SMITH & Jane MERCES
Married - Nov. 19, 1850
Pinfield, New York

This family bible is presently in the ownership of a BEAN family member in Clio, Michigan.

She nor I can figure out the connections of these names to my great-grandmother who is the 1/2 Indian.

Eliza Jane SMITH b. Nov 1860 in Michigan
died 7 Jan 1929, burial 10 Jan 1929 in Woodlawn Cemetary in Clio, MI

Eliza Jane preferred her nickname of "Jennie"
She first married an Andrew NEELEY
perhaps abt 1884 or 1885; his heritage and relatives also lived in same area of Genesee County, MI - Clio and surrounding smaller towns at that time.

CHILDREN from this marriage:
Fred NEELEY b. July 1885; he married Grace STOOLMAKER.
Betsey b. abt 1887.

These two would be my grandmother's half brother and sister.

I think that she and Andrew divorced from what I have seen in the census years after birth of her children; Andrew lived with 2 different NEELEY brothers, and in the one census listed his marital status as divorced.

Jennie then married Harrison O. BEAN on 8 July 1890.

CHILDREN:
May E. b. June 1891, she married John WYMAN
Laura M. b. Apr 1893, she married Fred LOVELASS
Harrison Edward "Pingree" b. Sept 1895, m. to Muriel WARREN
Hazel Maude b. 25 Feb 1897 in Vienna Twp (she is my grandmother) she married Clarence Newton BURTON
Minnie she died abt 8 yrs old on 5 Sept 1911.

The NEELEY family apparently also have Indian ancestry.
