James or John DUNLAP - 1850s

Classification: Query
Surnames: DUNLAP, GERMOND, CRAFT
I joined in the hope that someone can help me find information on my father's grandmother, Martha Ann DUNLAP Germond. We don't have any birth or death dates for her. He never remembers meeting her, so perhaps she died before he was born. Here is the information I have.

Parents names: unknown. I have found reference to a James DUNLAP in Hillsdale Co., MI and to a John DUNLAP in Branch Co., MI in the 1850 MI census, but I have not yet been able to examine the census records themselves to see if either of them had a child named Martha. If you are descended from either of these families, I hope you will contact me.

Martha Ann DUNLAP married Charles Henry Germond in Allen Co., IN on 23 June 1877. No parents' names are given on the marriage record. Charles Henry Germond was born 2 June 1851 in Michigan and died 1899 in Benzie Co., MI. He is the son of Jane CRAFT and Granville Stewart Germond. Their other children are Morris W. GERMOND, Hattie Matilda Germond and Mary Adeline Germond. The Granville Germond family lived in Branch Co., MI in the 1860 and 1870 census. They supposedly relocated to Mecosta Co., MI before 1880 but I have not found them in the census yet. Since Allen Co. is in northern Indiana, I suspect that Charles and Martha may have eloped to Indiana.

Charles Henry Germond and Martha Ann ("Mattie Ann") DUNLAP Germond had two children, Granville William Germond and Irene Germond WOLF (my paternal grandmother). Both children stated in various legal documents over the years that they were born in Mecosta Co., MI, but Mecosta Co. has no record of their births. It appears from various family memorabilia that both children may have spent considerable periods of their youth living with other family members, so perhaps Martha Ann DUNLAP Germond died or abandoned her family.

Thank you for any help you can give me.
