I am researching my G.G. Grandfather. I know from 1893-1907 he went by the name William D'Louis Beslow. From 1907 until his death in 1929 he went by the name William Louis Bessolo. He was not a very honest man, so we have had a hard time getting accurate facts. According to different sources he was born in either 1868 or 1869. He has stated he was born in Calumet Michigan as well as France and Italy. We have found information that he had a 1st wife in Michigan, who's last name was Wagner. He had a daughter born in Michigan about 1890 named Cora, who was raised by her maternal grandmother Caroline Wagner in Montana. We believe he went by Bessolo also before 1893. He has stated his father's name was Carlos Bessolo, but unfortunately he has said his father was also born in Italy and France. We have never found his mother's name but he stated she was born in Switzerland, France, Spain, Mexico and Russia depending on the source. His second wife was my G.G. Grandmother Flora Barton and they had 10 children. We have found a possible 3rd wife of Therese in Birmingham, AL. The 4th wife's name was Felicia McCoy, he married her sometime between 1910-1912. His 5th wife was Minnie Liebrect. They married sometime between 1917 and 1921. Based on the information we have he never divorced any of these women. He is known as an inventor of tools. We have found 33 patents so far held by him. He went from mining town to mining town and convinced the people to invest in his tool factories and then took the money and skipped town. We know he lived in Minnesota from 1893-1905 and in Seattle from 1906-1908. After that he traveled the country. He took money from people in Illinois, Arizona, Idaho and California and served time in prison in Arizona and Idaho. He lived in Clearwater (Paramount) California from about 1924 until his death in 1929, yet still traveled all over. There is so much information about his man, but yet most of it covers the middle to end of his life.
I am hoping someone might know something about this man, his wives and his ties to Michigan, especially the U.P. area.
Any additional information anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
