My grandmother, Caroline Gorbutt Arnott, had at least 13 siblings and I have several questions. Who was Maggie Nichols of Seattle, Wa? She was listed as one of Caroline's surviving sisters in 1955. Was there an Eliza (bn: June 1887)?

I was wondering if anyone could help me locate a grave in Bad Axe cemetery?

I am looking for Mabel Thorton born around 1885 and died 24 January 1903. Her death certificate states she is buried in Bad Axe Cemetery.

I was wondering if she is by any chance also buried with her sister Myrtle Edith Peterson (formerly Richards nee Thorton). Myrtle was born around 1889 and died 25 October 1918.

They may also be buried with their mother Allie M Thorton nee Hill who died 18 May 1898.

Any assistance with the above query or any guideance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sheila

No obits found as yet but hopefully the following will prove helpful:-

You will find Malcolm and Agnes' 1902 marriage by following this link:-

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N38T-FSN

Here it is recorded that this was Malcolm's second marriage - and that Agnes' maiden name was Gibson - so the year of birth for daughter Ada in the 1910 suggests that daughter Ada is actually Malcolm's natural daughter not Agnes'.

This is the link to the Malcolm and Ada in the1900 Census

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MSMX-VKM

Ada's birth

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQD5-2RR

And Ada Gertrude's marriage in 1917

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N35B-DLH

Sister Annie May

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQV4-N3B

Sister Edna Irene

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQ8Z-3Y8

Brother Malcolm R

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQXC-B5R

This is Malcolm's mother's (Ann as listed with him in 1900 census) death certificate

http://cdm16317.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection...

These findagrave memorials seem strong candidates for your Malcolm and Agnes

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Mc...;

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Mc...;

and Malcolm's mother

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Mc...;

Regards

Debs

It is strange because i find that his wife Sarah nee McDougald died Caseville 14 Dec 1898.

His son Chester Guy Soper died 30 Aug 1900 .....I saw the death certificate signed by Guy Soper of Pigeon ( must be a town or village ) . Chester was to be buried in Caseville Cemetery.

So one is puzzled to not find Guy in any census. However I do appreciate your efforts to help.

I’m not related to any member of this family.

There is a 20 yr gap in the census records from 1880 to 1900. If the Soper family immigrated during that perios they will not be seen until 1900.

Guy Soper did not immigrate to Mich.
Can't find any record for him.

I do not have a lot to tell.
Guy was born in Durham County Ontario about 1854 as seen in 1861 census ...son of Alpha Soper and Jane Mallory.
His wife believed to have been Sarah McDougald born 1859 Canada died 14 Dec 1898 Caseville Huron Michigan. A birth record shows a son Alpha Benjamin Soper born 16 Aug 1886 Thunder Bay Ont. Beyond that I have nothing but 2 of his brothers ...Timothy and Alpha lived in Michigan

Marion would be Marion Twp Sanilac Co, including Deckerville. Check out Sandusky District Library they have added their entire obituary and cemetery database for Sanilac County Area plus more at their site, free and searchable from Home. Check out Downing Cemetery, Wheatland Township (across the Rd. from Marion Twp), there are several French's buried in the middle of the Cemetery next to the Morden Plot. Checking SeekingMichigan.org another free site, I found a death certificate for Aaron French b. 26 Oct. 1839 Can, d. 18 Jun 1917 age 77y 7m 23d. s/o Charles H. French b. New Hampshire & Nancy Smith, b. Canada. Informant was Nelson French of Beaverton, MI. Aaron is buried in Croswell Cemetery, Croswelle, MI. Aaron died in Buel Twp, Sanilac County which is West of Croswell, MI. Some of those families migrated north from Worth & Buel Townships.

Karen bootstransinc@yahoo.com

His name is there and it only says:
Heath, Chandler ------ Died 1884 in the American Civil War at age 34.
I sometimes go to Port Austin and may this summer. If I do, I will take a picture if there is a headstone there.
I'm not sure because your posting is from 2010, if someone else has answered you. That is all the information I have on Mary Todd. If anyone knows the wherabouts of Mary Todd or any of her children I would like to contact them.
Hello
Have you searched the records on family search?
I was on there today and put Younglove Huron county and came up with all kinds of records.

And as I suspected and mentioned previously, William L adopted mother was also from Youngstown Ohio.
It says it on her marriage to William O Younglove.
She is 39 when she marry's him and and cannot make out the spelling of the name its something like
Braunnauni, they have it listed as Braumbren and then it says or Lewis, which could have ment she was married and then it also included her maiden name Lewis.
Married 29 AUgust 1904.

William O also married previously to Lizzie Cass, and his real name is Orville William Younglove.

YOu may know all this already.

But i bet William L and his adopted mother were realated.

Also did you see Wm L adopted mother listed on the 1930 census as inmate in Huron county.

http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/1982/issues/12-...
Thank you in news from William L Younglove family for flowers and cards at his funeral.

http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/2010/09-22-10%2...
Willaim D Younglove obit

http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/ccc_1979%20(e)/...
Jackie YOunglove

http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/1994/issues/199...
Alice Younglove Obit

http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/1982/issues/12-...
William Lester Younglove Obit

http://www.deckervillelibrary.com/huron_county_earliest_sett...
Mention William Younglove

And you have exhausted all your resources??
Have you
Called the Library in Youngstown,Mahoning county and checked what there resources such as newspapers, obits, deaths, etc... And genealogy websites and volunteers that know about the area.
County Library probably has email you could write too.

DId you check newspapers in that area.
If there was a flood that people died in I would imagine it would have made news.

Have you checked Ohio deaths for 3 people that died on the same day. Findagrave?

Ohio births
Have you checked birth for William of September 5th 1908 and his twin brother

i see he doesnt mention being Indian on any of the census records.
But if he was, there def. should be some documentation in Youngstown ohio.

I also see that William's adopted mother was also born in Ohio, that makes me think maybe she was realted or knew the family. Otherwise it would make you wonder how he got all the way to Michigan in that day.

Have you tried looking into last names Leasure to see if it was an known Indian Surname?

Have you looked into floods of Ohio that would have been between 1908-1920?

These are the things i do when I research, have to dig.

I do know there was a destructive flood in Ohio March 25, 1913.

Good Luck!

Just from what I have found on this board and one more,my great grandfather's name was William Lester Younglove. But he was adopted by the Younglove family after his family (father, mother and twin brother) drown in a flood in Ohio. William lived with the Youngloves in Michigan I believe. They believe his birth last name was Leasure. I am trying to find information on his birth family.

Inda's in Huron County MI

Michael Inda born abt 1855 and died in 1943 was my 2nd great grand uncle. His father was Jacob Inda and Mary Swiepkoski.

Census records are a little confusing I know Marion & Mary could be one in the same, but where would Martha come from? Does anyone actually have a record of his marriage so I know what first and last name was?

Your Richard family is in the 1900 census here:

Year: 1900; Census Place: Paris, Huron, Michigan; Roll: 715; Page: 6B; Enumeration District: 15; FHL microfilm: 1240715.

All of the children in your original post are listed here except Frank.

Susie (Bescher) Richard died in 1904. See here:

The Library of Michigan; Michigan Death Records, 1897-1920; Rolls: 1-302; Archive Barcode/Item Number: 30000008530820; Roll Number: 69; Certificate Number: 8.

The death record lists her family name as Bigski rather than Bescher. At least one other family tree has it as Bieski. I have no idea which is correct.

John Richard remarried before the 1910 census. See here:

Year: 1910; Census Place: Paris, Huron, Michigan; Roll: T624_649; Page: 10B; Enumeration District: 0016; Image: 1071; FHL microfilm: 1374662.

Anthony, Martha and Rose were still living with their father and stepmother in 1910. Johanna had become Annie Lebuhn. Joseph wouldn't marry until few years later but had moved away.

Hope this helps.
What is your source for including Frank in the list of Joanna's siblings? I have documented Joseph, Anthony, Martha and Rosa, but not Frank. (There was also a daughter Catherina who died in infancy in 1898.)

I am researching my paternal grandfather, Frank J. Richard (1880-1959). Everything I know about him matches up with this family. His 1917 draft registration lists John as his father's first name, and when his wife died in about 1950 he moved to that part of Huron County. But he is not listed as part of this household in the 1900 census. He was 20 years old and still single and I haven't found him anywhere else in the U.S. census for that year either.

I can't find any other connection between Frank and the family you referred to. It would be extremely helpful if you could let me know what source you used to include him in your list. Thank you.
