Nelson's Motel? My maternal grandmother Carmel Francke (ex-husband Atley Berg) had a cabin at Lake Emily. Carmel Francke nee Carmelita Varney was born in Crystal Falls. We visted the Nelson cabins as I remeber and they were cousins according to my grandmother. My mother was born in Amasa parents Carmel Berg and Atley Berg. My wife was born and raised in the Swan Lake area North of Crystal Falls and attended Forest Park. My grandfather Berg spoke fluent Finn and Swedish (Matilda was a Finn Swede Andrew's wife) I have the genealogy back to the 1600's for Andrew Berg in Vassa Finland. My mother died several years ago and she kept me up helping on much of the genealogy. She was very proud of her Finn ancestry and Sissu. Her name was Mary Lou Berg (maiden) Emil Hakala visted my grandfather Bergs place in Waukegan Illinois. He spoke broken English. We were married in Crystal Falls and he gave us a gift 1961 (5 bucks).
My mother-in-law spoke fluent Finn and she would help with the translation.

Let me know what you are interested in? Walter Berg (Olga's brother) lived in a duplex on the South side of Waukegan Illinois he shared with Atley. My memory of you grandmother is sketchy at best. I do remeber someone lived on the Stambough Hill in Iron River, related? The problem we had it was a broken family with the divorce of Atley and Carmel.
