Passed away Sunday morning, December 18, 2005 after a lengthy illness. She was born December 24, 1924 in Lepanto, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry and Ella Williams. She was married to Allie R. "Coot" Buchanan II. She worked at Galesburg Nursing Home for 40 years before her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons – Larry, John "Bo" and Allie, III; three brothers, Willie Williams, Sr., W.G. "Duck" Williams, and Booker Williams; two daughters-in-law, Audrey and Ann Buchanan also preceded her in death. Surviving family are four sons, Fred, Paul and Duane of Kalamazoo, MI and Leandra "Sonny" Buchanan of Lepanto, AR; Dalton Buchanan, the grandson she raised, also of Kalamazoo; 28 very special grandchildren & great grandchildren; three sisters-in-laws and one-daughter-in-law. A host of nieces and nephews, all, whom were special to her. Particular thanks to the following dear friends who held a special place in her heart; Best friend, Ms. Renna Gilland; Mr. James Embry (deceased). Lifelong neighbors and friends from Krom Avenue – The Higgins Family, Mother Ludie Walker (deceased) Mr. Iris Gene Hughes and Ms. Emma Jones. We would also like to acknowledge and give a heartfelt thanks to the following people; Paul Buchanan (son), Willie Williams (sister-in-law), Angela Tabron (granddaughter), Lena Williams (niece) and Janice Cobb (friend) for providing unrelenting comfort and care from their hearts for our dear Mother & Grandmother during her illness. Their constant and tireless visits while Mrs. Buchanan resided at Heartland Nursing Home brightened her days – God Bless You All! Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, with a 12 Noon family hour at Harper Funeral Home, 521 Douglas Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI, Rev. Maurice Harley, officiating. Friends may view 3 - 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
