SLOCUM, Lucinda L.
Mrs. Slocum passed away peacefully in her home, early Thursday morning, May 11, 2006. She was born February 27, 1936 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Cronk) Hall. On November 30, 1956, Lucinda was united in marriage to C. Willard Slocum in Elliot City, Maryland. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, very involved with Oakwood Little League, a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader, a volunteer for the Red Cross, and a member of the Kalamazoo-Portage Women of the Moose Chapter #350. Lucinda loved to collect many things including dolls, furniture, and Beanie Babies, and she had a passion for convertibles, but most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Willard Slocum; three children, Chris (Kathy) Slocum of Kalamazoo, Vicky (Mark Jerpbak) Slocum of Rescue, CA, and Richard (Vonda) Slocum of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Meghan, Nicholas, Skye, Terra, Kylene, and Derek; three step-grandchildren, Ashley, Jack, and Kristen; two step-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jaylyn; three sisters, Diane Mackey of Whittier, CA, Sally (John) Brush of T or C, NM, and Joyce (Martin) Ahrens of Huger, SC; one brother, William (Roberta) Hall of Poolsville, MD; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Sandra Frizzell. Funeral services for Mrs. Slocum will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at First Baptist Church, 315 W. Michigan Avenue with Rev. Cal Mastin and Rev. Dr. MaryBeth Sarhatt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street .
