Kathryn Pickett - Of Kalamazoo, cberished all the moments that life brought to her and loved all the people who were blessed to be in her life. She was born in Gary, In, on June 27, 1962, to Jim and MaryEllen (Hastings) Yurchak. After a move to Plainwell when she was young, she attended Plainwell High School, graduating in 1980. Shortly after graduation Kathy married Tom Pickett, and together they moved to Tennessee, North Carolina and Massachusetts. Not long after the birth of their second daughter, Kathy and Tom returned home to Michigan. A few years later they welcomed a third child, a son, to the family. Kathy worked in various jobs vefore her most recent job as an executive assistant for Triple S Plastics. In her spare time she was always active outdoors, playing soccer, running, biking, or rollerblading. Kathy was very involved in her children's lives; with Girl Scouts and camps they attended. She also regularly attended Richland Bible Church. Her friends and family will always remember her gift of gab. Whether on the phone or lying by the pool, Kathy loved to chat. Her family includes her par-ents, Jim and MaryEllen Yurchak of Cooper Township; child-ren, Ashley, Jamie and Logan and their father, Tom Pickett of Comstock; siblings, Dianne and Doug DeYoung of Plainwell, Bryan and Alaina Yurchak of Wharton, TX, Ruth Yurchak of Tampa, FL; in-laws, Terry and Cheryl Pickett of Plainwell, mother-in-law, Rose Pickett of Plainwell; nices and nephews, Mark and Rochelle Howard, Jason DeYoung, Julie DeYoung, Troy, Kody, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Benjamin Yurchak, Travis and Troy Pickett; and great-nieces and nephews, Hailey DeYoung and Sarah and Ethan Howard. Kathy died May 14, 2002 at her home after a battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father-in-law, Norman Pickett. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 16, 2002, from 6-9 p.m. at the Richland Bible Church, where a Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 17, at noon with Pastor Andy Jacobs officiating.
