Mrs. Ruth MCNAIR GILMORE, 1520 Long Rd., Kalamazoo, MI, Passed away Monday evening April 29, 1985. Mrs. GILMORE was born March 19, 1891, in Kalamazoo, Mich, daughter of Dr. Rush and Mary Ellen EVERHARD MCNAIR and had been a life resident of this community. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. GILMORE had deep interests in the historical preservation of buildings and wildlife in Kalamazoo and was one of the persons instrumental in saving the water tower at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital. Her father was one of the founders of Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stanley GILMORE SR on July 13, 1982, was was a former president of the Gilmore Brothers Dept. Store. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Glen C. SMITH; a son and daughter-in-law, James S. Jr. and Susan GILMORE, all of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren, Bethany G. ALGER of Richland, Sydney G. MCELDUFF of Quincy, CA, James S. GILMORE III of Kalamazoo, Elizabeth G. BYSTRYCKI of Green Belt, Md., Ruth G. LANGS of Springfield Va., James S. SMITH of Rockford, IL, Julie S. HEATH and Martha S. TENBRINK, both of Kalamazoo; 10 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Irving S. GILMORE; a sister-in-law Mrs. Genevieve U. GILMORE, both of Kalamazoo. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in Mountain Home Cemetery, with Rev. Canon James C. Holt officiating. Memorials may be made to the Diana F. Gilmore Memorial Fund or Kalamazoo Chapter American Red Cross. Arrangements by the Langeland Memorial Chapel , 622 S.
