Mrs. Leah A. HENKE, 1221 Miles Ave., Passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 1984. Mrs. HENKE was born May 7, 1912, in Kalamazoo, daughter of Edwin W. and Essie ADAMS BEACH and had been a lifelong resident here. She was graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and attended Western Michigan University. She was a member of Lucinda Hinsdale Stone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Red Cross. She was also a member (since 1942) and past president of the Bronson Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo. On Nov. 26, 1936, she was married to Henry HENKE, who survives. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Beulah BEACH of Kalamazoo; other in-laws, Mrs. Louise HENKE of Kalamazoo, Oswald and Emma HENKE of Lancaster, Ohio and Frank HENKE of Kalamazoo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held Friday at 1 o’clock at the Langeland Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Rev. Sandra Elfring, Bronson Hospital Chaplain; officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
