Mrs. Elsa NACKERUD EGLY, 802 E. Eagle Lake Dr., Formerly of Battle Creek, MI, Passed away Thursday morning, September 4, 1986 at her residence. Mrs. EGLY was born January 6, 1912 in Oslo, Norway, the daughter of Gilbert P. and Alette (NILSON) NACKERUD. In 1945, she came to Battle Creek and had made her home there until 1979, then coming to Kalamazoo and making her home on East Eagle Lake Drive for the past seven years. She was a member of the Community Hospital Auxiliary of Battle Creek attended the Lakeview Baptist Church and was a member Optimisses of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. EGLY Sr. in 1963. Surviving is a son and his wife, Robert P. Jr., and Betty EGLY, of Kalamazoo; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Michael WIRT of Holton, Michigan; five grandsons, two sisters and two brothers; Grace M. CHILDS and Walter N. NACKERUD, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chester NACKERUD, Anaheim, California; Daphney SHAY of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 o’clock from the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor Roy J. Clark of the Westwood Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, Grabill, Indiana. Friends may meet the family at the Portage Chapel, Friday evening, 7-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo. source: Kalamazoo Gazette after Sep 4, 1986 (submitted by a volunteer, no family connection)
