Mrs. Margaret “Marnie” C. BURNS-BEAVER, Formerly of Battle Creek, Savannah, GA & Summerfield, FL, Constitution Blvd., Portage, MI, Age 80, Passed away at her home suddenly Saturday, October 28, 2001. Marnie was born May 5, 1921 in New York City, NY, the daughter of Harry K. and Josephine (COOK) CLARK, and came to Michigan in 1923. Marnie was a world traveler and spent three years in Heidelberg, Germany, where her first husband, Lt. Col. George BURNS was stationed. While there they traveled in many European countries. He preceded her in death in 1983. In 1986 she and Chuck R. BEAVER were married and he precede her in death in March of this year. She was co-owner of the Bull Street Station, which was a model railroad and arts & crafts store in Savannah, GA, for a number of years, and lived on Colonel’s Island in Midway, GA. Upon their retirement in 1995, they went to Summerfield, FL, where they resided until May of 2000. She was a member of the Elks Lodge #286, of Ocala, FL, was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #8083 in Belleview, FL, and a member of the Climax Michigan American Legion Auxiliary #0465. She was an avid bridge player. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Myrna BURNS of Jacksonville, FL; a step-son, Kevin BEAVER, and a step-daughter and husband, Patty and John SWOPE, all of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister and husband, Duffy and Roy CHENERY of Kalamazoo; 3 nephews and their spouses, David and Phyllis CHENERY of Kalamazoo, Bruce and Joene CHENERY of Michigan Center, MI, and Mark and Julie CHENERY of Galesburg. By her request cremation has taken place. There will be private services and interment. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Galesburg Historical Museum, 200 E.
