MRS. M. RAINBOW, 70, TAKEN BY DEATH. Mrs. Matilda Rainbow, 70, passed away at Lockwood Hospital, Petoskey, at 8:30 Tuesday evening, March 6, 1945. She had been in the hospital only a week, but during that time underwent a major operation, from which she never rallied. Born in Williamsburg, Grand Traverse County, Jan. 27, 1875, she spent her entire life in and around Kalkaska. She was married to John Edward Rainbow in 1900. Mr. Rainbow was Register of Deeds in Kalkaska county for 12 years, and was a Civil War veteran, he preceeded her in death about 25 years ago. Since his death Mrs. Rainbow owned and operated a hospital and convalescent home. She was a member of the Church ofChrist, Willing Worker's club, member of Rebekah Lodge No. 54, a Past Noble Grand, and at present time was their Chaplain. She belonged to the Past Noble Grand Club, and at one time to the Women's Relief Corp. Surviving are one brother, Ben Cross and one sister, Dr. Martha Serr, both of Kalkaska. Services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Berg Funeral Home, under the auspices of the Rebekah Lodge No. 54. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery. Rev.
