POSTHUMUS - CHARLES H. POSTHUMUS, aged 79, of 12020 100th St., Alto, passed away Sunday evening at Butterworth Hospital and was taken to the Roth-Gerst Chapel.
He is survived by his wife KATE; three sons, EARL and GERALD of Alto and CHARLES JR. of Kentwood; four daughters, MRS. JOHN (DONNA) JOHNSON of Hastings, MRS. HAROLD (GLADYS) KREBS of Grand Rapids, MRS. KEITH (FRANCES) BLOUGH of Wyoming and MRS. HAYES (PEGGY) CARGILL of Kentwood; one brother, HARRY of Ada; one sister, MRS. BESSIE VANDERVEEN of Lowell; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He served with the 339 Ambulance Corp. in France during World War I. He was a life member of the William Alden Smith Chapter of Disabled American Veterans of Grand Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2 o'clock at the chapel, the Rev. Carter Miller of the Alto United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Bowne Center Cemetery. The family will meet friends Monday 7 to 9 and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mr. Posthumus lies in state at the Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, Lowell.
