Surnames: Tompkins
My ggfather, Giles Tompkins was in 20th Regiment, New York Cavalry. I read in a history of Luther Twp. that there was a leader of the Regiment who brought about 20 soldiers to Lake County from St. Lawrence County, NY and bought Timber claims. I'd be interested in further details on this story.
