Thanks for the response! I know that Horace did not die in Michigan. He was already 17 in 1870, the first census in Michigan on which John A. Lawrence appears. I'm really trying to link him to John Allen Lawrence who appears to have had one wife and 5 children in Canada (Horace's family) before moving with his new wife to Michigan.
