I refer to George Rublein who came to Marquette in 1849 as the original Rublein. I have been trying to identify Rublein family photographs from the 1880-1910 era with the intent of donating them to the local history museum. I am wondering if you would have photos from this time so we can compare images?

My great grand mother is George E Rublein's sister Emma. I am also trying to contact other family members to gather family stories to preserve for future generations with our local history museum. I hope to hear from you soon.

I am planning on going to the library today, so I will look for John Pohlman's obituary. I have a 1916-1917 Polk Directory and I can find a Charles Pohlman listed there. He was a diamond drill operator and resided at 562 Jasper St. Do you know if John was a member of a church in Ishpeming?

I know this ia a long time after your query, but my Great-grandfather, Solomon Walimaa was killed in the disaster. His name is listed most of the time as "Valimaa" ..the "W" is pronounced "V" in finnish.. in your reply on here he's listed as "Valtama".. Walimaa is the correct spelling. My Grandmother, Eva, was still at home at the time. She was 13 at the time.
Gail Emanuelson-Hinds
Ishpeming, MI

I also know that in 1880 he lived in Ishpeming, he was married to Augusta Bjorn, and he had a son named Charles O Pohlman. But I want to know any additional information, such as exact birthdate and location, who his parents were and anything else you can tell me. Thanks.

Burn Gore

I'm searching for information on Burn Gore (Born 7-15-1901 in Marquette Michigan). Burn is the son of Wilmer Gore and Nettie McManus. Michigan birth records 1867-1902 lists him as Burr Gore. The U.S. Census for 1910 lists him as Burn Gore. Burn (Burr) Gore has a brother Patrick and his last name was changed to McManus. Patrick (Gore) McManus lived in Muskegon Michigan, died and was buried there in 1950.

The U.S. City Directories 1821-1989 lists a Burr McManus with a Muskegon Michigan residence.

I would appreciate any information anyone can provide. My name is Harold Lee Gore, Burn and Patrick are my paternal uncles.

STORY ABOUT BURN GORE:
Born: July 15, 1901

When I was a teenager, about 60 years ago my Dad told me that a member of his family (brother or possibly an uncle) was killed by lighting. He went to bring the cows to the barn and took cover under a tree. The tree was struck by lighting and he was killed along with several cows.

I didn’t ask any questions or pursue the story any further, but I never forgot it. My interest in Genology and efforts to gather information on the history of the Gore family causes me to regret not questioning my Dad further on this, and other events in his life, before he passed away.

My Dad had a brother (Burn Gore) that I was last able to locate in the 1910 U.S. Census when he was 9 years old (Born 1901). His mother (my Grandmother) died in 1906 of cancer. The 1910 Census lists his father Wilmer, brother Glen (my Dad) sister Rhea, and a housekeeper Age Webber, Burn’s father (my Grandfather) died of a stroke in 1914, Burn Gore would have been thirteen years old. My father never mentioned the name Burn. Did he die in the lighting strike or from some other causes, or was he adopted?

Harold Lee Gore
hlgore@new.rr.co
The 1910 Census lists his father Wilmer, brother Glen (my Dad) sister Rhea, and a housekeeper Age Webber, Burn’s father (my Grandfather) died of a stroke in 1914, Burn Gore would have been thirteen years old. My father never mentioned the name Burn. Did he die in the lighting strike or from some other causes, or was he adopted?

Harold Lee Gore
hlgore@new.rr.co

Harold Lee Gore
hlgore@new.rr.co

I also have him living in Erie Co NY living next to the York family 1850 with a different spelling of his name. He stayed in the Grand Traverse MI area, but I have lost him after 1883.

His sister,my grandma Dorothy and grandpa Sidney Fuller are also buried there. Dorothy Merise Yearkey and Sidney Henry Fuller were married Sept. 13, 1926. On November 7, 1927 my mother Dorothy Marie Fuller was born in Hazel Park, Michigan. Dorothy & Sid Fuller had 7 children, all deceased except one.
I will send more later.

I'm so happy you responded. I'd love to see those pictures ... will you send them to me?
I believe Victor never married or had children.
Maybe I can help and share information with you also ... do you have any blanks you'd like to fill in?
I've been trying to add stories and/or pictures on the Bilodeau family ... names/dates/places,etc. are neccessary, but not always interesting "reading" for the non-genealogist.
Yorkey/Yerkey, etc. was spelled soooo many different ways. How do they spell it today? Where is Nellie buried? Who/when/where did Dorothy marry?

I'm helping my godchild with the Bilodeau family history. Joseph Peter Bilodeau 1878-1963 is her gr. grandfather ... brother to Victor & Marie (Wheeler) Bilodeau. Which sibling is your direct ancestor? Maybe we can share information.
I am also looking for a death date/place for Henry Bilodeau. I lost him after the 1900 Menominee, MI census. I found his wife and 4 children in Chaves, MX in 1910 and she indicates she is married ... I did not find Henry and do not know if they were divorced at that time. I have followed Henry's wife Mary Alice (Vandervest)Bilodeau up to her death without mention of Henry.
Of course I'm still hoping for obits for any of Joseph's siblings. If you have that information, I'd love to share more.

It is nice to see someone on the same trip I've been on. I am a Rivers...as we all now know descendants from soup to nuts in name changes.

I am hoping my cousins out there can help me figure this one out. I cannot trace back to see if he had siblings, who they were. I know I am related to the Rivers in Essex County, NY. Joseph, Jesse, etc.. I need connection and I belive it is by finding out what Joseph is my gggrandfather is.
My ggrandfather was:
Edward Frederick Rivers...born 1858, Canada Mothers name unknown.
He married Harriet (Hattie) Duquette 1890 in Plattsburgh, NY per St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, NY.
They had following children: Fred A., Edward, Mary, Rose, Walter, John, Malcolm, Levi, Peter and William.

I have the info on all kids pretty much. I just want to make sure before I give info we are family.
"Sure would fill that hole I feel about where I originated from."
You can see the actual marriage book entry here, from
March 16, 1896
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQ36-ND4

Unfortunately, it does not list either of their parents. It does list an "R. Champion" as a witness.

This is all of the information available, if you were to order a certificate, this is what they would give you.

Do you know when they died? A death certificate or obit might give their parents.
