I've just been reading on the ludingtonmichigan.net site about Dr. Timothy Knox and his family. I can add this information-- Timothy Knox was the son of Timothy Knox and Priscilla Currie. Timothy Knox Sr. and Priscilla were married in 1814 in Albany, New York. Timothy Jr. married Elizabeth Whitaker in 1847 in Union County, Ohio. In 1860 they were living in York Twp., Union Co., Ohio with four children, Ormel, Cornelia A., Priscilla A., and a daughter named Elcy, possibly (hard to read).
I'm descended from Hugh T. Knox, brother of Timothy Jr.

Walter Przybylski,Sr. married Martha Prusinoski, whose parents are Joseph and Josephine Prusinoski, who had the farm off of Sugargrove (at the end). I believe Mogerman family live there now. Please if anyone has any info on the Prusinoskis, i.e., their farm, the birth and death dates, when they arrived to Mason County, would be greatly appreciated. I am stuck and cannot go any further b/c I don't know where they arrived from. Thank you very much ahead of time.

In the 1920 census she was living with daughter Edward and Mae Fortune at 511 Ludington Ave. Also, are there cemetery records available. Luke Ruddock died in 1882 and is buried at Cheboygan, but Margaret may be buried at Ludington. I would like to share any of my Ruddock research. Thanks. I have been able to find the final resting place for Edwin but not his wife. He is buried in Brookside Cemetery in Mason County. Can anyone help me?

I'm in the process of creating a Mason County data base.

The plan is to inter-relate all Mason County residents during the turn of the century. I'm collecting information on any family that lived in the area during that time period and puting it in GEDCOM format for easy access.

In my eight years of research I have found many things that are irritating but at top of this list is the lack of computerized information. Hopefully we can solve this together - at least for Mason County !!

If I can be of any help, or if you have a GEDCOM file I might be interested in adding to the data I have currently, please contact me :-)

Is anyone aware of a Wappler family that lived in the Ludington area (also in Manistee)? I am looking for descendents of Hans Wappler 1892-1965 and his wife, Dorothy Mucha Wappler 1901-1984. I am aware of at least 2 children, Robert 1923-1968 and Joan b.1927 - unknown married name (if any) and unknown if still living. Hans' father, Charles Wappler 1858-1939, is the brother of my great-grandfather Henry(Wappler)Warbler. Charles married Hedwig(Hattie)Ufer in Chicago in 1888 and had Hans in Chicago. Hans' children appear to have been born in Chicago as well.

Hello,

This is an interesting problem, maybe unsolvable... and to my dead grandmother Lola's dismay I will post the story in hopes of some answers...

Ethel May Brown (b.04 July, 1873 OH), daughter of the Rev. Joseph W. Brown (b.OH d.29 Mar., 1893 Mason Co. MI), had a daughter Lola Dale --- on 07 Apr., 1893 I believe in Amber Township, Mason Co., MI. Problem was that Lola was illegitamate and I've heard rumors that the father's last name may have been OLDS. Ethel May Brown then married in 1895 Jesse Melville Towns, son of Jesse L. Towns who was a very early Mason Co. settler. Ethel and Jesse then had two children together, Pearl Elinore Towns (b.22 Mar., 1896 in Amber Twp.) and Charles Emerson Towns (b.08 Oct., 1900 in Amber Twp.) All the three children went to school in Amber and I even have pictures of various people and places around there.

Who was Lola's real father? He must have been living in Mason Co. around 1892! Anybody with the last name OLDS living there around then??? Is there any way of finding out info on Ethel & daughter Lola after Lola was born in April of 1893 and before Ethel remarried in June of 1895? Any help would be appreciated.

Also looking for any info. regarding Ethel's father Rev. Joseph W. Brown who moved to Mason Co. sometime after his wife died in OH in 1885. Thanks!

Melinda McCoy

I have a small booklet about the history of the Summit Church of Christ, Ludington, MI. It was written in 1967 by Harold E. Hawley. This congregation started meeting in 1892-93. It has a history of the founders of that congregation and a list of early members. I will be glad to look up any names or info. this is just a small booklet, but does have a wealth of info. i am in no way connected to this booklet. It would have been thrown away, but i realize it may contain a link someone is looking for. If you will email me and put in the SUBJECT LINE: SUMMIT CHURCH OF CHRIST, i will look up for you.
35th Michigan Regiment volunteer infantry, Company A; Spanish American War, photo

Today I received a photo of Company A, 35th Michigan regiment volunteer infantry, Spanish American War from the Michigan State Archives. Below the photo, it reads "Copyright 1898, Sterling & CO, Detroit." Now that's the good news. The bad news is that no one in the photo is identified. I also received a roster of the men in the company from the Michigan State LIbrary. I am looking for Abraham Holmes Martin, my husband's grandfather. He ONLY has one photo of him taken ca 1940s. After that, his grandparents were divorced. So, if anyone out there has a photo of someone who served in company A, please contact me. Maybe thru the process of elimination, I might get lucky.
Juvanne Martin, Nampa, Idaho

Phoebe Charlotte Mason

I have researched my father's lineage and have started on my mother's. All the information I have received and found is accurate, to the best of my knowledge.

Henry Sable (Zable)(1830) from Hesse, Germany married Phoebe Charlotte Mason (1834) and according to the 1880 US Census they lived in Van Buren, Wayne County, Michigan; they show 9 children. Other information I have received stated they may have 10 children. Below are the names and years I have gathered: Daniel (?), Adelbert (Delbert)*(1860), Daniel (1862), Mary (1864), Frank (1866), Lydia (1868), Dora (1872), Alexander (1875), Albert (1877), Letta (Estella)(1878).

Any and all information you may have in regards to this family lineage would be greatly appreciated. I have marked my link (*). Thank you so much in taking the time to read this message.

I find it fascinating in looking at the past.
