Trying to go back on known ancestor John Cole from census 1840-Farmer & 1850 both at Sandstone, Jackson co, Michigan. John age 43 b. NY (weren't they all?) From marriage of daughter Helen: parents John & Matilda Raymond (b. MI)6 children. John m.(2)abt 1848 MI to Hannah Brown (b. 1825 NY) had 10 more. John d.1882, bur. Everett Cem, Newaygo co, MI. So far, nothing in MI shows his parents' names.

With 16 children, maybe some Michigan descendant will have more information on Cole & Raymond ancestors.

A personal Tree posted elsewhere claims John's parentage as John Cole, Sn. & Jennett Curtis in Orelean co, NY (1824 formation from Genesee co). Can't find either of them.

There are too many John Coles in this era of MI & NY to use this without some documentation. All related Surnames listed were of this era in MI. After +20 yrs. searching, any tips or information would be greatly appreciated.
