Looking for info on Betty Godfrey. She was born in MI, possibly Oceana County ca 1929. She may still be living and I am unsure if she ever married. She grew up in the Shelby, MI area. Her parents are Walton and Johanne Anderson Godfrey. She had a brother named, Forrest, whom I think resides in California.
Thanks, Tricia

I don't know if this is helpful, but on the church records for the baptisms of the Freund/Schmiedeknect marriage the names that appear are August Pankow, Rebecca Eibers, August and Doris Fuchs, William Meier, and Carl and Rose Kuhlmann. Sometimes these people were family. Sometimes just close friends. I have access to the names, birth and baptismal records for some of these children.

Check with the Oceana County Historical and Genealogical Society in Hart. They have a wonderful and very thorough collection of obituaries and old newspapers. Here is a link to an online name database:

http://www.oceanahistory.org/namelist.html

Thank you for all that information I will keep that for my records, but it is the Glover family I need to contact. It was said that the Abrahamsons adopted Dorothy from the Glover family and Dorothy knew my grandfather was her father. She and my mother before 2004 talked and she admitted she was my mothers half sister. I wanted to confirm that with the Glover family and find out who was her real mother and if my grandfather knew of her adoption from the beginning or who told Dorothy?

You will need to know the date of death.

I need to find a relative of the Glover family that knows their ancestry from the early 1900's. I was told there was a girl born that was put up for adoption in about 1918-1919 that was adopted by the Abrahamson family in Ludington, Michigan. Her name is Dorothy May and married William A Karlsen 1-20-40 she died 4-25-2004. I was told that the father of this woman was Carl Earl Johnson, who was married at least 2 maybe 3 times. It is very important that I know this information.

She is buried in Hart Cemetery and last we knew in 1940 was living Mears, Golden Township.

Is there an index for this area of obituaries? If not, a library or local newspaper?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!

Thanks,
Unette
unette@aol.com

Just reading through all the comments here, and figure I'd add what I know. Glen Strait probably was not Indian, as he was not a Strait by blood. He was Nellie Gray's child, not Peter D. Strait's. There was some issue with his birth certificate or social security card and he was not able to find it from the county listed under Glen Strait. My grandmother (Pansy Walker Strait) was aware that he was not a Strait and informed him of this. He went back and found it under Glen Gray.

Nora Mae Cartwright Gilbert was born May 7, 1884 to Merrick F. Cartwright and Cordelia Louise Duke Cartwright. She was probably born in Oceana Co. MI as that is were the family lived prior to moving to Delta Co. MI.
She is buried in Fernwood Cemetery on a bluff near Gladstone, Delta Co. Michigan. The same stone has the names of Cordelia L. Cartwright, Nora M. Gilbert and August McKinley Cartwright (a brother who died at 1 year of age). I have quite an extensive file on the Cartwright family. If you want to e-mail me at JoJerMaurray@juno.com I will send you more about this family.
I only recently discovered that Nora Carwright was my ggrandmother. She was the daughter of Merrick Cartwright and was born in 1884. Nora married Roy Gilbert in 1902 in Oceana County and died a few years later. Do you have further information on the Cartwright family?

Joan, My ggrandfather was William Washington Cartwright b. Dec. 30, 1873, and d. March 18, 1959 in Orofino, Id. He married Clarinda Hannah (Potter) on Oct. 10, 1898 in Ferry, Mi. His father was Adelbert E. Cartwright, b. Aug.21, 1852 and d. Jan 13, 1935, The info I have on this line of family is very limited. His mother was Augusta (Wires) Cartwright, b. Feb. 28, 1857 and d. Sept. 5, 1935. They were m. in 1871 or 1872. Adelberts brothers were Mack and Thomas. Thomas had a son, Clarence. Any info on this line of the family would be great. The W.W. Cartwright your talking about b. in 1824 was probably my ggrandfathers, grandfather.

Ed Bauer has written a book .. Ed's World. He said he was 81 yrs as he finished it in 2009. It was published by West Michigan Bookbindery Wayland, MI 49348 I tried sending an email to the address in the book, it no longer works. Also am not finding anything when I search Google. I'm wondering if he & Dolores are still alive and living in Mears? We stayed at the Flora-Dale Resort 1982- 86, the last week of the season...golf and western week combo. Absolutely loved the place and ED.

Dear Mar12435,
My name is Katelyn. I don't know if you ever found the cemetary that you were looking for, or if you are even still in persuit of it, but i must tell you it does exist and your Great grandmother is there. I live 3 hours away from there but i know the area well from being there often. I have been to the Lever Cemetary a dozen times and i, like you, was looking for info on your Great grandmother. For some reason her name stood out to me, so i googled it. and thats when i found you. so if you are still looking for it, can tell you about it and right where it is.

Thanks, Diana. I saw that on Findagrave, and saw the grave (Susanna's) in person when I was up there this summer. There are a few other Straits in Round Lake Cemetery, as well. I think most of them are on the findagrave website.

I have found no trace of Richard Buckmaster nor Richard Strait. My brother is convinced that they were 2 separate people, but I can't find proof either way. Anyone else have info on them?

I have not found Lucinda's death record but I believe it would have been in Oceana county, Michigan where I last found her on the 1880 census in Benona township. I have looked for Susanna's death but have not found it. Is this the sister to Lucinda that you found? Did you find one for Richard Buckmaster? Are you willing to share where you found her grave? I will share what I have if there is anything you need.
My line is through Jasper who married Rachel Ann Wolf.
Dolores Bottorff
