Surnames: Milne, Skippers,
I believe Robert is the son of Robert Milne & Elizabeth unknown. I am working on his sister Mary Milne, who married Ellwood Bennett in 1875, Allendale. Robert's marriage does not name his parents:

Michigan Secretary of State
Ottawa County
groom's name: Robert G. Milne
groom's birth date: 1847
groom's birthplace: Aberdeen, Scotland
groom's age: 38
bride's name: Jane Skippers
bride's birth date: 1867
bride's birthplace: Holland, Eu.
bride's age: 18
marriage date: 18 Nov 1885
marriage place:
Holland, Ottawa, Michigan
groom's race: White
bride's race: White
indexing project (batch) number: M39317-4
system origin: Michigan-EASy
source film number: 984231

You can see mother Elizabeth Milne's death (1814-1886) at family search. It names her parents as David Milne and Jane Milne. I guess it's possible that she was a Milne who married a Milne, but it's also possible that the informant made a mistake. Robert "senior's" (1817-1886) parents are listed as Robert Milne and Elizabeth Milne (another Elizabeth; correct?). Robert and Elizabeth died within a week of each other (Allendale). Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'm just looking at this family briefly. And maybe you've found the answers since 2007.
