Looking for others researching in Berlin Township. My great-great-grandparents settled just outside Berville in the 1840-1860 period. Daniel TROTT immigrated from Germany and married Louisa SHOESMITH from England. The rest of the SHOESMITH family settled just across the county line in Almont Twp., Lapeer Co. By 1860 John & Nancy POWERS had settled in Berlin Twp., and their daughter Emma POWERS married Daniel's son, Franklin TROTT. Because of the proximity of both Lapeer and Macomb counties, my ancestors have lived in all three and I grew up just a mile north of Berville. Would appreciate hearing from others who might be either connected to my family or engaged in the researching the three county 'musical chairs' that this area engenders.
