BIOGRAPHY:

* Taken from Port Huron Daily Times 3/8/1883
(St. Clair Republican)
A somewhat remarkable party of Columbus Township people were in St. Clair on
Tuesday, last being five members of a family each representing a generation.
The oldest member of the party was Mrs. Conant, 81 years of age, a well
preserved and active lady. The others as daughter and mother were Mrs. Abram
Maxon, Mrs Robert Livingston, Mrs Rufus Snyder and little Miss Snyder, six years
of age, the great-great-great-grand daughter of the family. The entire party are
now living within a half mile of each other in Columbus.

Following are biographical schetches of several octogenarians who are residents
of this county. Mrs. Louise Conat, a daughter of James Hogeboom, was born in
Vermont, July 31 1802, went to Port Hope Ont., with her parents in 1807, married
Charles Conat March 22, 1823 and had eight daughters and five sons. They lived
in Darlington, Durham county about 24 years, then in Westminster, Middlesex
county, about 10 years and for 27 years in St Clair county. One son died in
infancy, three others married and live in Ontario. The others came to Michigan;
two daughters dying here quite recently. Mr. Conat died in April, 1879, age 77 years;
Mrs Conat has since lived with her children and grand children,enjoying good health.
Her descendents are 130 grand children, 25 or 30 great-grand-children and four
great-great-grand-children. At present she is living with her son-in-law and daughter,
Abram and Priscilla Mason on the "Big Hand Road" in Columbus.
All are farmers.
