Classification: Obituary
Last Monday Chas Williams was laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the KOTM, of which order deceased had long been a member, and a very large concourse of people listened to the funeral discourse at M.E. church by Rev. Paul Desjardins, and followed the body to the grave. Mr. Williams was one of the early settlers of this part of the county, having come to this locality 36 years ago, and by industry and economy has built up a fine property. He was born in county of Kent, England, 57 years ago. When 10 years of age he came to Brantford, Ont., where he lived some two years which he was married to Katherine McIsaacs, the wife who now survives him and they then moved to this county where they have since lived, known and respected by the entire community. Mr. Williams has two brothers living—Thomas Williams of Greenwood, Mich., and John Williams, of Evart, Mich.
[Yale Expositor, Nov 22, 1895]
Note: The previous edition of the Yale Expositor, Nov. 15, 1895, mentions a Charles Williams. His death was suicide by hanging. In that article, Mr. Williams “leaves a wife, three boys and three girls.” Two of the boys names mentioned were “Archie and Joe.”
