Speculation:
In the teens and twenties, Henry Ford used his labor force for several personal projects, including clearing his land. Perhaps it was a Ford work crew out at Fairlane? You might check with the corporate historians at FMC and ask the question. (My late father-in-law started working at Ford in the Twin Cities in 1927 - pre union. He used to tell a lot of tales, most of them true.)
