White Pigeon; Janet Ruth MERCER, 57, of 12516 Dickinson Road, White Pigeon, a lifelong White Pigeon resident, died March 1, 1998 in Three Rivers Area Hospital.
She was born Sept. 21, 1940 in White Pigeon, a daughter of Payson and Bessie (BOWMAN) CARPER.
On Dec. 14, 1957, she married Charles W. MERCER at the White Pigeon Methodist Church.
She was employed at Bronson Plastics and Medalon Plastics in Elkhart, Ind. A homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Tammy) BISTODEAU of Three Rivers, Becky WORTINGER of White Pigeon; three sons, William Charles of Phoenix, Edgar E. of White Pigeon and Jeffrey A. MERCER of White Pigeon; 14 grandchildren; five sisters, Wanetta BROGE of Shipshewana, Ind., Audrey WHISLER of White Pigeon, Mildred HOSTED of Sturgis, Mrs. Bob (Carol) BELL of Florida, and Mrs. Delton (Phyllis) BELL of Mottville; three brothers, Arch CARPER of Washington State, Dick and Mary CARPER of Mishawaka, Ind., and Sam and Pat CARPER of Constantine; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marjorie NELSON.
Relatives and friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Farrand Funeral Home of White Pigeon, where services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
