Mr. Steven S. BUTLER, 22969 McGillen Rd., Mattawan, Died Monday afternoon, July 3, 1989 in Three Rivers, MI. Mr. BUTLER was born July 7, 1931, in Rhame, North Dakota, the son of Fred and Lucille (DOECHER) BUTLER. He came to Kalamazoo in 1952 and had made his home in Mattawan since 1974. He owned and operated Butler Plumbing Co., which he founded in October of 1952. Also he and his family owned and have operated Bath-N-Things which they founded in 1971 and Omni-Marble. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven F. BUTLER in 1975; a granddaughter Teaon BUTLER in 1987; and a brother William BUTLER in 1987; and a brother William BUTLER in 1988. On July 21 of 1950, he was united in marriage to Marilyn B. WATERLAND, who survives, Also surviving are 3 sons and 1 daughter, Richard and his wife Sarah of Mattawan, Daniel of San Diego, CA, Cynthia MERCIER and her husband, Robert of Gobles and James of Kalamazoo; 1 granddaughter, Ashley BUTLER; 1 brother and 2 sisters, Bruce and his wife Betty of Schoolcraft, Peggy CALVERT and her husband Lanier of Buckeye, AZ, Bess ALBERT, Fallbrook, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. BUTLER will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the Langeland Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, A Trust 100 Chapel with Rev. Dr. Alden B. Burns of the Northwest United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the Memorial Chapel, Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Heart Fund or the Cheff Center for the Handicapped. source: Kalamazoo Gazette Jul 1998 (submitted by a volunteer, no family connection)
