Maurice D. BUSKIRK M. D., N. Gremps Street, Paw Paw, Passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2001 at his home. Dr. BUSKIRK was born June 25, 1914 in Paw Paw the son of Carl and Lola (ROBERTSON) BUSKIRK. He was a graduate of Paw Paw High School, Albion College and Case Western Reserve and practiced medicine for 41 years. Maurice served in the Army Air Corps for 4 years during World War II. Making their home in Midland, Michigan. Maurice practiced medicine for 23 years then moved to the family farm in Paw Paw in 1969. Dr. BUSKIRK practiced medicine in Paw Paw for ten years associated with Dr. Ten Houten for part of this time. Later Dr. Ed Lee joined Maurice’s practice. He considered introducing Dr. Lee to the area one of his major accomplishments. Maurice retired in 1980. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw, the American Medical Association, Van Buren County Medical Society, American College of OB & GYN, on the staff of Lakeview Community Hospital 1969-1980 and member of the Lakeview Foundation Board since its inception and board member of the Van Buren County Hospice. On September 18, 1937 in Jackson, MI, Dr. BUSKIRK was united in marriage to the former Katherine Martin FORD who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Peggy (Lee) CLOY of Mancos, CO, and Karen (Larry) MOENING of Kalamazoo; grandson, Andy MOENING of Kalamazoo; 4 granddaughters, Kary L. MOENING of Kalamazoo, Laurie CONKLIN of Boise, ID, Leslie C. BIANCHESSI of Luganville, Republic of Vanuatu and Mara CONKLIN of Seattle, WA. A brother Robert BUSKIRK preceded him in death. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 8, 2001, 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Deborah McCallister officiating. Inurnment of cremains in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County or the First Presbyterian Church.
